Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Hat Creek at none against Vacancy Brewing's shown. Hat Creek also leads on ratings volume (2.2K vs 1) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Vacancy Brewing's advantage is update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 11 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Hat Creek against 5.0 for Vacancy Brewing. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hat Creek has 2.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Reported bugs
3 issues- It won't let me redeem offers
- The app interface to earn points is awful. Anytime I go to scan my receipt. It fails. I have to manually enter the information from the receipt, every time, and the given QR code to scan at the counter always fails as well.
- Trying to read the bar code with the camera is not working.
