Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Dial at none against OpenNutrition Macro Tracker's shown. Dial also leads on ratings volume (815 vs 49). OpenNutrition Macro Tracker's advantage is review sentiment (95% vs 60%) and iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Dial holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dial has 815 ratings behind it against 49, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Dial's written reviews are positive against 95% of OpenNutrition Macro Tracker's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Dial ships an update every 9 days, OpenNutrition Macro Tracker weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
