Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Gymaholic at 70% against Workout Planner's 0%. Gymaholic also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 23 months) and ratings volume (3.5K vs 1). Workout Planner's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 27.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Gymaholic sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Workout Planner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Workout Planner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gymaholic has 3.5K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of Gymaholic's written reviews are positive against 0% of Workout Planner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Gymaholic ships an update every 9 days, Workout Planner every 23 months. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 27, 2026 respectively.
