Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ToolSnap at 4.5 against ToolVault's 1.0. ToolSnap also leads on ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). ToolVault's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs monthly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ToolSnap sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and ToolVault sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ToolSnap holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ToolSnap has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
ToolSnap ships an update monthly, ToolVault every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
