Verdict
The clearest difference is price: ntfy at Free against Plain Text Paste's $2.99. ntfy also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.3) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ntfy is free to download; Plain Text Paste costs $2.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
ntfy holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ntfy has 442 ratings behind it against 26, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Plain Text Paste's written reviews are positive against 79% of ntfy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Plain Text Paste ships an update every 5 months, ntfy fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
