Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: TimpFest at 67% against Megaplex Mobile's 19%. TimpFest also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 6 months). Megaplex Mobile's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (12K vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Megaplex Mobile holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Megaplex Mobile has 12K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 19% of Megaplex Mobile's written reviews are positive against 67% of TimpFest's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Megaplex Mobile ships an update every 6 months, TimpFest every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
