Camera Heart Rate Variability is the first app that lets you record, plot and export time and frequency domain Heart Rate Variability Features - without requiring any heart rate monitor. Camera HRV uses a technique called photoplethysmography (PPG for short), which consists in detecting changes in blood volume during a cardiac cycle, by illuminating the skin and measuring changes in light absorption. PPG has become quite a popular non-invasive method for extracting physiological measurements such as heart rate and oxygen saturation. However, most applications today focus simply on heart rate or respiration rate. Supported devices for the camera measurement: iPhones 5, 5S, 6, 6S, 6+, 6S+, SE, 7, 7+, 8, 8+, X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, 13 mini, 13, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max Camera HRV can assess cardiac autonomic regulation through quantification of sinus rhythm variability. Since HRV aims at quantifying autonomic regulations, it can be used as marker of sympathetic or parasympathetic predominance, and therefore become relevant in many applications. In athletes for example heavy training is responsible for shifting the cardiac autonomic balance toward a predominance of the sympathetic over the parasympathetic drive, and HRV analysis attempts to quantify this shift. Other applications span from stress monitoring, assessment of pathological conditions and even emotional regulation during financial decision-making. Main Features: - extracts, plots, stores and exports heart rate, rr-intervals, time and frequency domain heart rate variability features (AVNN, SDNN, rMSSD, pNN50, LF, HF, LF/HF) - configurable time window for feature extraction (30 seconds to 5 minutes) - automatic RR-interval correction - event annotation - comparison between up to 3 recordings lets you get a better understanding of autonomic regulation and sympathetic/parasympathetic activity under different contexts in a glance - data export/storage on iTunes and Dropbox (csv format, exports heart rates, rr intervals, events and computed features). Data export needs to be performed from the history -> recording view, by clicking on the export button (bottom left). - integration with the Health app (writes Heart Rate and Heart Rate Variability) Find out more at this link: http://www.marcoaltini.com/2/post/2014/01/heart-rate-variability-using-the-phones-camera.html

*HYDROSENSE* is a general wellness app designed to help individuals understand and improve daily health habits through simple, manual tracking of hydration, sleep, and physical activity. By combining user-entered data with science-informed wellness logic, the app transforms everyday inputs into clear, actionable insights that promote awareness, consistency, and sustainable lifestyle habits. Users can log daily water intake, sleep duration and quality, and step count without relying on wearables or sensors, keeping the experience flexible, private, and easy to use. HYDROSENSE analyzes how hydration, sleep, and activity interact, presenting trends and patterns in a clear, easy-to-understand format. Based on these combined insights, the app provides wellness-oriented recommendations such as estimated calorie needs, protein intake, vitamin D guidance, caffeine limits, and key micronutrient support (e.g., zinc and magnesium). These recommendations are intended for general lifestyle support, not medical treatment. Over time, HYDROSENSE helps users track habits across days and weeks, understand how daily choices affect energy and recovery, and make more informed decisions. The app is suited for health-conscious individuals, fitness enthusiasts, busy professionals, and wellness researchers seeking structured, user-entered lifestyle data. BIOLITYQ is intended for informational and general wellness purposes only and does not provide medical advice. *HYDROSENSE* is a hydration monitoring solution developed by Innovosens that combines a non-invasive sweat-sensing patch with a dedicated mobile app to provide personalized hydration insights for physically active individuals. The system focuses on analyzing sweat rate and sweat loss to help users accurately estimate fluid replacement needs, reducing the risk of dehydration and overhydration during exercise. The Hydrosense Patch is easy to apply and continuously collects sweat-related data during workouts. Through the integrated mobile app, users can start and track workouts, enter required information, and receive post-activity metrics such as sweat rate, total sweat loss, and recommended fluid intake. The system is powered by scientifically and physiologically validated algorithms and enables long-term data collection to analyze trends and further personalize hydration strategies. Hydrosense is particularly valuable for endurance athletes such as marathon runners and cyclists, hikers and trekkers operating in demanding environments, gym-goers seeking optimal hydration for performance and recovery, and researchers conducting studies in hydration and exercise physiology. The result is greater confidence and precision in hydration planning for future activities.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: HydrosenseAI at Free against Camera Heart Rate Variability's $6.99. HydrosenseAI also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months). Camera Heart Rate Variability's advantage is chart position (#156 vs unranked) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 14.0). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
