Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Transparent Labs at 73% against BJJHQ's 22%. Transparent Labs also leads on rating (4.9 vs 3.5) and ratings volume (3.5K vs 41). BJJHQ's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Transparent Labs holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Transparent Labs has 3.5K ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 22% of BJJHQ's written reviews are positive against 73% of Transparent Labs's.
BJJHQ ships an update every 2 months, Transparent Labs monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
