Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hiking Trails at 100% against PowerView's 28%. Hiking Trails also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 16.6). PowerView's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 22 months) and ratings volume (2.4K vs 11). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Hiking Trails holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PowerView has 2.4K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Hiking Trails's written reviews are positive against 28% of PowerView's.
Hiking Trails ships an update every 22 months, PowerView every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on November 1, 2026.
