This means you’re getting the convenience and comfort of a private ride with the efficiency and affordability of a public one. AFFORDABLE. Aggregating people into one vehicle brings down prices. Enough said. Eligible users can also take advantage of concessionary fares. SUSTAINABLE. Sharing rides reduces the number of vehicles on the roads, bringing down congestion and CO2 emissions. Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: Hampton Hopper at free against Suffolk Transit On's free with in-app purchases. Suffolk Transit On's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (474 vs 48). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Suffolk Transit On holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Suffolk Transit On has 474 ratings behind it against 48, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Hampton Hopper's written reviews are positive against 50% of Suffolk Transit On's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Hampton Hopper ships an update every 2 months, Suffolk Transit On every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
