Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: VMMap at 2.8 against Utilisphere's 1.7. VMMap also leads on review sentiment (50% vs 12%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Utilisphere's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (40 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
