The Vesta app is your remote method for controlling your Imersa and Perfecta series sous vide appliances. After creating your account and connecting your device to your 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi network, the app provides two ways to control your sous vide cooking: Direct Control for those users that know the temperature and time values as well as a robust Cooking Guide that allows the user to select the ingredient and level of doneness to pass the temperature and time values to your device. Set your cook temp, time and go about your day – the app will alert you when your dish is finished. Have more than one device? That’s no problem as the Vesta app supports controlling multiple devices at the same time. If you enjoy researching sous vide dishes, check out our Recipes page for a sample of what can be made with your Vesta sous vide cooker. At Vesta, we believe in providing ‘Simple kitchen solutions, so you can do more’!

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Masterbuilt Classic at 1.9 against Vesta Sous Vide's 1.6. Masterbuilt Classic also leads on ratings volume (220 vs 14) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.0). Vesta Sous Vide's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and review sentiment (25% vs 16%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Masterbuilt Classic holds the better App Store score, 1.9 against 1.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Masterbuilt Classic has 220 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 16% of Masterbuilt Classic's written reviews are positive against 25% of Vesta Sous Vide's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
