Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Boundless at 4.4 against User guide for iPhone & iPad's 2.9. Boundless also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 11) and update cadence (monthly vs every 12 months). User guide for iPhone & iPad's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 32%) and iOS requirement (7.0 vs 15.6). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. User guide for iPhone & iPad sells 11 one-off in-app purchases. Boundless asks for nothing beyond the download.
Boundless holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Boundless has 18K ratings behind it against 529, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of User guide for iPhone & iPad's written reviews are positive against 32% of Boundless's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
User guide for iPhone & iPad ships an update every 12 months, Boundless monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
