Ferry Play: An App Play Ride New York City's Staten Island Ferry with nothing more than a set of headphones and this app to experience the site-specific, full sensory experience of a podplay for the Staten Island Ferry. As the ferry sets sail, put your earbuds in place and listen to the recorded production in which every surrounding sight, smell and sound plays a supporting role in the experience. Ghosts from the ferry's past mingle with voices from its present, leaving you to consider you role in the live performance event that is the Big Apple. Ferry Play is a self-scheduled performance: you can ride the ferry late at night, early in the morning, or any time in between - you choose the day and time, which then affects the experience you have. Act 1 takes place on the ride from Manhattan to Staten Island; Act 2 takes place on the ride from Staten Island to Manhattan. Podplays are an emerging genre of theatre that take advantage of mobile technology to create site-specific audio-based theatrical experiences.

We are pleased that you are using our tonies app. Our App-Tonies are always hard at work for you. In this update, they have once again worked on improvements. If your mobile phone memory is full during a recording, you can now save your recording until then. We have also optimised some steps in the setup process of the Toniebox: The request for access rights has been corrected. WLAN names (SSIDs) can now also be entered manually. Occasionally, it can happen that the set up process was successful despite the code word "hedgehog". This is now displayed. Do you have questions or feedback? The Tonie customer service is there for you in your profile. tonies holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: tonies has 8.6K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Ferry Play's written reviews are positive against 56% of tonies's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Ferry Play ships an update every 58 months, tonies every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
