ímesh, meaning "to walk" in Skwxwú7mesh snichim (Squamish Language), is a mobile app being developed by the Bill Reid Centre for Northwest Coast Studies at Simon Fraser University. The app is a response to the university’s Community Engagement Strategy, and its Aboriginal Strategic Plan, and is intended to be a step, however small, toward decolonizing the university and the surrounding landscape. The goal of the app is to communicate through experience, the unique worldviews represented by the Indigenous art on campus, and to create a stronger awareness of the Coast Salish territories on which SFU is situated. Please note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Ímesh at 100% against Evo Car Share's 39%. Ímesh also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (8.2 vs 13.0). Evo Car Share's advantage is ratings volume (96 vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 11 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Evo Car Share holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Evo Car Share has 96 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 39% of Evo Car Share's written reviews are positive against 100% of Ímesh's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Evo Car Share ships an update every 2 months, Ímesh every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
