Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Wiktionary Reader at none against Latin English Dictionary's shown. Wiktionary Reader also leads on review sentiment (51% vs 17%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 21 months). Latin English Dictionary's advantage is rating (4.1 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (680 vs 63). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Latin English Dictionary holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Latin English Dictionary has 680 ratings behind it against 63, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of Wiktionary Reader's written reviews are positive against 17% of Latin English Dictionary's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Wiktionary Reader ships an update monthly, Latin English Dictionary every 21 months. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
