  • A swift rating

I came from Swift playgrounds and this is much more in depth and less holding-hand type tutorials and practicing over and over again gets boring. However, this is a bit too theoretical and there is no practice problems that make you feel you can make a difference with what you learn.

To be honest, I want these 2 apps to merge and have it be where there is less practice and more in depth learning, but have it where the first couple units are free for those who aren’t sure about getting the whole app.

  • Through lesson one

Just finished lesson one. I only got stuck a couple of times and the videos where real helpful. Could I write a simple program in swift now? Yes. Was there a whole lot of explanations? No. For a free lesson though I haven’t found anything better yet. The ui is very user friendly. Just maybe if we click on something a full definition pops up. ie, if we click on “float” in the direction it would tell us when we would use that.

  • Good app for a beginner

I like this app. It is really challenging since I am new to the language. It’s very helpful to have the tutorials and I can only assume there is audio as well, but since I can’t hear the audio I still gain a lot from the visuals it provides. I guess if the developer wanted to add closed captioning or subtitles to the tutorials that would be outstanding. I’m enjoying the app and would recommend it for beginners.

  • Paging through pages

So far I like the app. However, a couple of additions would be great.
    - Should be able to go back to previous pages in a lesson, page by page, along how it works now by going back to the section list
-Should be able to bookmark the last place you left off
After going through several lessons, I started to have problems with the help function. Instead of giving a hint, it says “Doh! Something went wrong. Please try again.” This has happened in several lessons.

  • Decent

The app is pretty decent and breaks down the fundamentals fairly well. One annoying thing is the sensitivity when it comes to how exact your answers are. You don’t need a period in a string or need to capitalize anything. The app makes you type exactly what they tell you, which can be frustrating considering all the points I got stuck weren’t because of a coding structure mistake or anything of the sort it was because of a missing space or something minor like a period. The real kicker is when you complete the very first basic lesson and they start charging you for every other lesson. Honestly I thought I found a free nifty tool to get a grasp on Swift coding but the prices are a bit hefty for my liking. Why would anyone buy an individual lesson? If you’re serious about learning you’re obviously going to want to know it all, not just a specific piece which is essentially useless without the rest. You can buy all lessons for $10 USD, or buying each individual lesson will rack up to around $47 - $48 USD. I’m sure this app is fine if you have the money to put into it, but I’d rather just look online for free and figure it out myself. At least the app doesn’t have any ads which is a plus but I’m just gonna uninstall and figure it out a different way. If you have the money, go for the $10 pack and if not, this isn’t the app for you.

  • IT'S A FANTASTIC APP

The program made me type that.

I'm trying to be funny. If you get through the first ten lessons you'll understand what that means. Tech humor, these kinds of people are the nicest types I've met and I've met many a type.

A ton of inside jokes from a world most people know nothing about. I am one of those said people and have a very limited knowledge of how coding works but with this app it turns something painstaking into an enjoyable experience.

I've only got through the first ten lessons but I can't seem to put it down. This old technology is the new Frontier, in my opinion. People who use computers or have been on the internet should try and make some effort in understanding some basic concepts.

    This app helps with that!

Thanks developers for all you do in connecting the world. You don't get enough praise. Hopefully others will show more gratitude. Please do it, guys, you don't want to mess around with our kind hearted potential overlords.

  • Fun!

It's so much fun to do! And if you get stuck there is a "hint" to put you in the right direction and if you still don't get it then there is a very short video telling you how to do it. If you mess up while typing in some way there is a little marker to tell you that you did something wrong before you finish typing which is super helpful so you don't have to go back yourself and try figuring out where you went wrong. 5/5 Awesome app!!

  • This app is AWESOME!

I told the developer I’d rate this app with a glowing 5 stars after iOS 12 released, so now here I am!

A lot of the complaints I have seen from other reviews is that you have to spend $10 to unlock the rest of the lessons, but this is 100% worth it in my opinion.

I’ve made it to chapter 8, and so far everything has been clear and concise. I’ve struggled with trying to learn other languages in the past, but the way this app is set up there’s usually a very clear reason as to why things are the way they are. Each lesson even has hints and a video included that can help A LOT if you don’t understand something. Most of the time it isn’t necessary to use these, but they help a lot when you do need to use them!

When I finally encountered a problem I couldn’t solve, I emailed the developer asking for help and they got back to me quite quickly, responding fast until my problem was solved. They were completely understanding, patient, and polite.

This app is awesome at teaching Swift and the developer genuinely seems to want to teach people Swift.

This app has inspired me to continue my journey learning Swift, and I thank the developer for creating an awesome app! This is one of the best $10 I have spent.

  • First ever review!

As I am older, I have been hesitant to try anything of this nature. It was, however, relatively easy to use. You do need some basic understanding of rudimentary coding to grasp it initially. I accomplished this by checking out some Javascript basics. It help to “ translate “ some of the fundamentals for this type of programming. I had know knowledge of coding until yesterday. It is know doubt fun. I would integrate some basics for the newbies, like myself to help understand things like; why certain things need a space, or why some things need caps while others don’t. The more users know, the more likely they are to stick with it in my opinion. I do enjoy app. Great job guys! Thanks!!

  • Makes Ya Think

Out of all the programming learning apps this is the first I’ve found to really make you think of what to type!! It really makes me feel like I’m learning instead of just repeating the teacher. It’s kind of interesting, especially if someone had never looked into programming prior they may have a harder time... BUT they explain why the answer is the answer very well & organized! Great job.
