Leave a Review Just Press Record
If you have an Apple Watch, get this App!
I get my best ideas about solving the problems of the world while I’m driving or out walking. When driving, I need to record a thought with as little distraction as possible. When walking, I just want to press one button on my watch and start talking. And when I’m having a conversation with someone, I sometimes need to remember a fact they’re telling me, without pulling out a notebook and pen. This app satisfies those needs perfectly. Other apps let you control directionality, noise reduction, etc. and are much better for lectures and meetings. In fact, I use one of them. So I hope Just Press Record doesn’t try to add bells and whistles to compete with them. Its simplicity is its strength.
Update: I should have mentioned that I mostly use it on my iPhone. Sometimes I just want to record the time that an event or series of events occur — press record and state the event, then stop. Handy for that as well. Again: Simplicity is its key.Show lessJust Press Record is Voice Memos, but worse and not free
urchased this app based on Apple’s publication of a “Story” in the IOS App Store that describes Just Press Record (“JPR”) as “The Quickest Way to Record a Voice Memo.” The Story specifically referenced an Apple Watch widget as the basis for naming JPR as the quickest mechanism for recording voice memos available to iOS users. All these claims were absurd. To use JPR on a watch, you tap the widget, which opens the app. To use the free, built-in Voice Memos app, your woe the widget and open the app. These two applications are indistinguishable. Literally. Except that JPR is less reliable (JPR regularly fails to transcribe files, routinely quits, and cannot be counted on to sync across your iCloud devices). Save yourself some money and frustration. Do not purchase this app. Just use Voice Memos. kinda sad to see what a low quality marketplace the App Store has become.
I’m updating this with you seven months after I submitted it at no problems have been fixed, domination, and its transcription is a joke, and I have no clue why I paid money for this. Scam.Show less(Almost) perfect
Love the simplicity. Love that I can record easily with my wireless microphone the phone itself or my watch. Love that I can activate the app with shortcuts on my watch so I just press my action button and make a quick recording for my notes. I do wish I could have my recordings geotagged or at least have the option as I travel a lot in a day and remembering where I was based on time is harder than if the location was stamped in the recording name. The interface is simple however I also wish while I was recording that the “waveform” thing they have on screen was actually useful instead of the stylized but ultimately useless wave you see. I often find myself turning the app on to record then moving to my microphone app to make sure my levels aren’t peaking. Would be nice if I didn’t have to jump around to do that. Overall though a great app.Show less
