Price History of Noir

Description of Noir

Noir is a Safari extension that automatically adds a dark mode to every website you visit. It makes browsing the web at night so much better. With Noir, you won’t be blinded by bright websites ever again. And the results look great too. Noir generates a custom dark style for each website you visit, based on the colors that are used on a page. You won’t even notice this happening in the background – that’s how fast it is – but you’ll certainly appreciate the end result: a beautiful dark mode tailored for each website, where contrast is preserved and highlights still pop. And with over 20 built-in themes and the ability to create your own, you can customize the results exactly the way you want. Noir works with any website you visit in Safari, automatically. By default, Noir is linked to your device’s Dark Mode, so websites will only go dark when you want them to. But you can easily customize this to your liking, even per website. Only want to use Noir on just a few specific websites? Sure thing! Disable Noir on some websites? No problem! Built from the ground up for iOS and iPadOS, the app feels right at home on your device. It supports the brand new Safari web extension feature, which means there’s no need to manually activate it every time you load a new page. The app also tightly integrates with system features such as Shortcuts, Focus Filters, and Widgets to fully integrate Noir in all your workflows. And your settings are automatically synced to all your devices using iCloud. And just as importantly, Noir takes your privacy seriously: it doesn’t collect any of your browsing data. Period. Noir is made by an indie iOS developer. It does not include any subscriptions or ads. Buy Noir once, use it forever. Notes: • Found a website where Noir’s dark mode doesn’t look just right? Let me know by reporting it. The app will be frequently updated to address issues that are reported. Privacy Policy: • The Noir extension requires access to the websites you visit to analyze the existing style of the page and to override it with Noir's dark style. • Noir never collects your browsing data. The only data Noir ‘collects’ are your settings, and those will never leave your device or iCloud account. • You can read Noir’s full Privacy Policy at https://getnoir.app/privacypolicy

Reviews of Noir

  • Amazing app, absolutely worth the money.

Love this app so much. It’s a one time price, not a monthly fee. It’s smart enough to automatically work on sites that need it and it will ignore sites that already use other dark mode settings. You can configure the background color in settings as well and choose from different shades/colors. You can configure specific sites individually. Buying it on my iPad also allowed me to use it on my iPhone. This has made reading in bed at night so much better. Would recommend this app to anyone who wants to reduce eye strain and not risk their private data with a sketchy free app. Definitely worth the $3 I paid.

Thank you so much for your review!
  • Amazing app for dark mode

One dark night while surfing the web, I was blinded by a bright white web page…

That’s how my story with Noir starts, and most likely how you ended up here reading this, after that final, annoying last straw, I started looking into dark mode extensions for Safari. I tried several other free apps and was disappointed, either they made the sites look janky or strange, or it was painfully obvious an attempted dark mode was being applied.

After giving up on all the free options, I took the plunge and purchased Noir (it’s less than half the price of a latte these days). I couldn’t be happier with that purchase, Noir works **almost** seamlessly, so well in fact most of the time I don’t realize that Noir is creating the dark mode… until I visit the site on my MacBook… so then I bought the Mac Noir Safari extension as well!

As other users point out the only times this doesn’t work seamlessly is on image heavy websites and a few websites that it hides content on, but with constant updates it keeps getting better! Apple should hire this guy and make it a native feature for Safari!
  • private browsing data

With this extension turned on, if you are using a private browsing tab, the data still gets saved. For example, if you go to a website in a private tab with the extension enabled, you will find the corresponding data saved in settings -> safari -> advanced -> website data. However, this doesn’t happen if you turn the extension off.

Updated: with iOS 17, we can turn off extensions per private or public browsing so it’s a valid workaround.

    Developer Response

Hi, unfortunately this can happen due to a bug in iOS. Noir does not collect or store that data. In fact, Noir does not collect any data at all. In iOS 17 it’s possible to disable Noir when Private mode is enabled. This will prevent this from happening.
