  • Timings

Shame that the timings don’t reset themselves every time the cat uses the cat flap.
If a cat goes out the timer starts and notifies you that your cat is outside. If you let your cat inside via another means and they haven’t used the cat flap to enter then the timer keeps rolling on. However if they use the cat flap again at anytime to go out the timer does not reset itself and continues to roll on giving you false information. The time shown as outside reflects on their original exit time and not their last exit time.

  • App does not work

It’s telling me the cats have looked outside when they are actually outside, so not tracking when they are in or out. That is literally what I bought this model for, seems there are lots of issues with the app and it needs resolving asap as it’s useless at present for monitoring purposes

Update 15 September 2024: now it doesn’t even tell me that a car has been in or out of it, it’s utterly woeful and a complete waste of money. Should be reported to trading standards for selling such a sub par product

  • Great product and app!

I bought the sureflap connect pet door before getting the app, and after seeing all these negative reviews, I was really worried I made a bad purchase. Thankfully, I haven’t had any issues, and the app works perfectly fine for me, especially with the curfew setting which is the main reason I upgraded from the standard microchip door to the sureflap connect. I can’t speak for everyone else’s negative experience but it seems like they’ve worked all the bugs out!

  • Back to the drawing board

I want so hard for this app and device to work as expected. But with 100s of “an animal peeped” notifications, batteries that run down in 2 weeks and very confusing app layout I’m very much regretting this “upgrade”. I hope it can be saved. Your app notifications preferences do not work, I’ve had to block the app from sending me notifications because I’m receiving 100s. Support won’t answer emails and your website “live chat” robot does not help anyone. This is the only way your customer base can get your attention so I’m adding to the pile.

  • Next gen app is buggy, unfinished

Edit 9-sep-24: the recent update fixes none of the usability and reporting problems described below. App is unusable.

Original text: I do not recommend updating to the June 2024 “next gen” app. It’s buggy, has reduced functionality and generally feels untested and unfinished. If you have the prior gen app still installed, my recommendation is to NOT update. The new idea that you can switch between charts for different pets simply by clicking their profile picture is great, except it doesn’t work. Switching pets this way causes the history graph to be grayed out with a label that says “unavailable.”

The previous bar charts have been replaced with a line graph, which is fine except the new graph is very compressed in the Y axis. It takes up maybe 10% of the total screen space on an iPad Pro. This means that variations in the Y axis, that is, the amount of food eaten each day, are also compressed. This blunts the curve and makes it harder to discern differences day over day.

The new graph has no scale on the Y axis, so you can’t tell how much was eaten on any given day. There is a text label over the right-most value on the graph showing that day’s total. But since the current day is in progress, that value is always substantially less than prior days totals and it’s impossible to evaluate how much was eaten on prior days.

The new graph only shows 7 days. No more weekly or monthly views. The top of the screen has buttons for the prior 14 days. Selecting one of those buttons shifts the entire graph, causing the selected day to appear as the right-most entry. The good news is that applies the aforementioned, lone text label over that day. But it causes all days after the selected date to be removed from view. And it still doesn’t show values for any day except the right-most date. In short, you can’t compare daily totals unless you select each day individually manually and record the values manually, outside the app.

The new graph no longer shows a break down of consumption from the left and right bowls. In the one instance where the graph does show a total, there’s no way to tell which food was consumed.

Meanwhile, the timeline view no longer has any filters. It’s just one long dump of all events from all pets. You can no longer select a specific pet to review their individual events.

To bring this app to a usable standard, fix the bug preventing switching graphs by tapping the profile picture. Put a scale on the vertical axis (with horizontal bars across the entire graph for reference lines). Convert the simple line graph to a stacked graph showing 3 lines for the left bowl (with its assigned label), the right bowl (with it’s assigned label) and the sum. Remove the 14-day buttons across the top and simply use left/right swipe to switch the graph between weeks. Re-add weekly and monthly summary views. Re-add filters on the timeline view; at the very least allow filtering by pet, but an good additional improvement would be filters for filling, filling left bowl, filling right bowl, consumption, consumption left bowl, consumption right bowl.

  • Simple app, but not simple to use!

This app is basic (which is all that’s needed), yet it’s not easy to navigate.
    All you need is
    1. add/edit pets and their info
    2. feeders settings
But finding where to do what isn’t obvious, or where you would expect it to be.
  • Really dislike the new update

The app interface is so much worse - it used to be user friendly and very obvious what to click for each area, now it’s so unclear and looks very amateur.

As far as I can tell, the main feature that I have been hoping for has still not been included (unless it’s so hidden away in the new interest that I can’t find it!) Please please take user feedback and allow us to edit the entry history! For example, it says my cat has been outside for 2 days, messing up all her stats and averages, as she came in through the window in the night and then didn’t go out again. It would be so useful to be able to backdate my manual entry that she is ‘inside’ to yesterday so it doesn’t say she’s been outside for 24 hours!

  • New version is way worse!

We use the app to manage a single connected cat flap. Why oh why did you completely overhaul this app? I refuse to use the word “upgrade”…
The ergonomy of the previous version was not perfect, but this one is even more complicated, and you have to navigate it to find even basic information (cat flap locked or unlocked, battery status).
But the worse of the worse is the reliability: at least the ild version could be trusted to hold our chosen settings, but not this new one! We set curfew times for our cat and the app somehow decides at random to delete our curfew settings and either lock or unlock the cat flap. Inexcusable. Please get back to the drawing board or, even easier, go back to the old version and don’t touch anything anymore.

  • Bad translation to Spanish

The app has a misspelled word to say enter.

To enter in Spanish is “Entrar” and you mis spelled it in your App and wrote “Dentrar” which is not accepted by the Real Academy of Español, that is the entity that regullatea the Spanish language.

    Please fix it
  • The best pet feeder.

Our cat became sick and would only eat small amounts throughout the day. Leaving her food out resulted in the dogs eating some of it and we didn’t know how much she was eating. This pet feeder is just brilliantly. Not only is it programmed for just the cat to open but we can see when she has been eating and exactly how much. The WiFi setup was very easy with clear instructions.
