Spin magic

Sometimes you see products that have three or four things and ultimately it’ll mess a mark on one or two this hits every single mark with the cleaning the features of the Wi-Fi and most importantly the taste. I absolutely think this is one of the best engineered thought out coffee machine ever.

Good and not so good

The good
A lot. App control makes it a breeze to select among a wide variety of coffee drinks. The machine itself works great. Easy to clean, easy to maintain and the market place coffee options are abundant

The not so good.
It doesn’t get my coffee hot enough. And that’s a big miss to me. There’s no manual setting to adjust temperature so looks like I’ll have to live with not so hot coffee.

Rocky start perfect finish

I was so excited to get my Spinn that I had installed the app prior to getting it. It arrived after a long wait and I tried to set up the machine, with my dogs name for the machine name and the firmware update failed, but it started up. It worked poorly made the wrong size drinks and then it was completely non responsive and resetting didn’t work. After closing app, restarting phone I thought I would be good, still no dice. I deleted the app reinstalled, used the default name (this seems to be key), the firmware updated the machine and no problems have resurfaced. Being able to start my espresso from my bed is key. The espresso has a nice amount of crema. Compared to a Nespresso machine it is slower since it heats, grinds and brews rather than just pop in a pod to brew. It also needs water to clean itself and it shunts the water to the drip tray. Fantastic design! This feature will just cause you to empty the drip tray and fill the water tanks more than you might think.

Good app for a great machine

Stable app. I worried about having two people on the same account, but unlike the other reviewers, I didn’t get kicked off when my partner logged in. Just use the name and pw to log in, not the facebook or iCloud button.

The app is easy to use and quick to learn. I wish there were explanations to what each of the coffee types were (like on the website). Seems like a fairly odd omission.

I also wish there was functionality with Siri Shortcuts. There are a couple of things built in, but they all have to do with opening the Market tab or auto ordering coffee. Seems like it should be easy to add a “make coffee” shortcut so I can automate my brew. This would solve a lot of complaints about there being no timer for scheduling and not working with Siri. It would be a workaround for sure, but if I can trigger an automation with voice control or a time trigger (one that’s not Alexa, that “skill” is halfbaked and awful), it would get me to the same place and be just as good.

So far fairly underwhelmed

Took over a year to actually get the coffee maker. Finally arrived and I got it set up. Apparently the carafe comes separately so it’s one cup at a time which I guess is okay for now. Day one I run a test cup and it worked pretty well. Kind of noisy considering the price. Then I find that there doesn’t seem to be a way to set a timer so first thing in the morning when I wake up I have to get on my phone to brew a cup. That goes okay but I get up early and my wife does not so the noise level is kinda whack considering I have to run it multiple times in a row. Then my wife wants to make a cup and logs in on her account and it kicks me off. Then inexplicably after her one cup it stops grinding beans so we get 3-4 cups of just warm water (Frowny face emoji here). Me logging back in requires I go through the entire set up process again which is wildly annoying. I get everything set back up and run a cup and get water only AGAIN. I take the beans out and put back in. Finally now have a cup of coffee. So I’m total for +/- 5 cups of coffee I’ve now spent over an hour with my new Spinn. After waiting for a year + I was hoping to have my socks blown off. Alas, they don’t even need to be pulled up in the least. But I’m willing to give it a few more days.

Spinntastic

Loving the new machine. App is easy to use and the coffee itself tastes great.

Lives up to the hype

This machine does everything, without compromising quality. I can make espresso and drip coffee on the same machine, without a ton of prep, cleaning, or maintenance. The marketplace of coffee has something for everyone at reasonable prices for the quality. The custom brew cycles for the beans purchased through the Spinn platform actually have a noticeable impact on taste (yes, I tested 😅). I’ve owned several machines before this one and didn’t realize I was settling for mediocre coffee until I started using Spinn!

Best espresso and unboxing experience

After waiting for 3 years I finally got the Spinn. It uses centrifuges to spin coffee at a super high RPM to extract all the oils out of the coffee and man it’s the best espresso I’ve ever had.

The entire on-boarding experience was amazing and honestly the unboxing was way better than an Apple Product unboxing.

The Spinn is what you get after investing years to perfect something and the quality is better than every Nespresso machine I’ve owned.

Buy one and be the envy of all of your friends.

Game Changer

I love my new Spinn coffee maker. It is officially replaced both my pour over and my Nespresso machine (which was both expensive and wasteful). The system makes it so easy to get a perfect cup every time. From an espresso to a tall mug. I'm also enjoying exploring the marketplace of all the local roasters -- found my new favorite -- Duotone (Side A Blend).

Converted skeptic

I bought as a Kickstarter. Took years to get. Arrived a week ago. Does not froth milk but, that’s no problem as I use MW to heat and an electric whisk to froth. The machine is well thought out and the chip design works well. Quieter by far than my Breville when it grinds. All kinds of sizes and strengths. I like the look and the smaller foot print on my counter.
