Great app, excellent price
I have been using mSecure I think since version 3. There have been growing pains as the developers worked through enhancing and improving but today, I’m thankful I stuck with this app.
I can say with confidence now though, as hard as I pushed back against a subscription type account, it is without a doubt the best option. For $15 a year, I get the premium version of this app, including future improvements. I know a lot of people like to squawk about a subscription model but let me point out a seldom considered positive to subscribing.
I have mountains of data, PDF files ands Pics attached to files, that I securely save in mSecure, synced across 4 devices. I have tried half a dozen other apps over the years but no other app I have tried is nearly as reliable, functional and intuitive as mSecure. I want this developer to be financially solid. The nightmare of starting over if this developer cratered financially would be terrible.
It’s a solid, reliable supported app and paying the tiny fee of $15 every 12 months, is well worth knowing this app will continue to improve and to securely and safely store all my most critical data thru the years ahead.
Thanks mSecure developers, for keeping all my data, as well as my wife’s and the dozens of friends and associates I have referred to mSecure, stored safe and accessible!!Show lessDeveloper Response
Hi Iar52, I am very sorry to hear you're having trouble. In regards to the problems you are experiencing, I believe we can help with the alpha-scroller on your iOS devices which appears to be a misunderstanding of how that feature is intended to work on mSecure's main view. Regarding the bug you mentioned on your Mac, the spelling correction bubble not disappearing is something already on our radar, and we hope to have it fixed soon. Please contact us on our support forum - discussions.msecure.com - and we will do everything we can to help you with iOS's alpha-scroller functionality.Do NOT use this app!
I have had this app for a while now and placed every log in and password into it because I trusted the developers and reviews. On Sunday, I logged into the app and everything was gone. Wiped. I wrote to the support email (they have no phone number) and they sent me a response the next day (do you have a filter on?-no). An email the next day asked which version I was previously using. The tech support stopped responding after that. It’s been several days now of silence. I am locked out of my bank account, my healthcare account, work information, everything. Support is now unresponsive and when I went to log in to the main site, it’s saying I don’t have an account at all.
When I log into the app, there appear to be backups of my account but I can’t restore to them without upgrading so basically, they erased my account and are holding all my passwords hostage until I give them money.
DO NOT USE THIS APP. It will derail your life on a whim with no recourse for help. I’ll happily delete this review if I receive actual support/assistance but until then I will be spending all my free time working on getting my 100s of accounts back. Thanks MSecure for my new full time hobby!Show lessGets the job done, can’t complain about being grandfathered
I bought the full version of mSecure back in version 5 for about $30. It did the job fine and it still does the job fine in version 6. Despite the slight grumble and eye roll I made when mSecure switched to a subscription model I can’t complain too much about my lifetime subscription being grandfathered (although I did lose a few minor features, some more important than others), but it still irks me to see this become a monthly / annual subscription and it makes me concerned about the future direction of the app. That aside, the interface is modern (though I’d personally redesign it) and I can feel fairly safe in knowing I have one secure place to put my passwords. OTP support is a nice feature too.
So overall, 3 stars. That doesn’t mean the app is bad, it’s just that there’s nothing incredibly special about it and also indicates my concern about its future value. I’d love to hear from the developer about their position and I’ll consider revising my admittedly lukewarm review.Show lessDeveloper Response
Thank you for your review. One thing I would like to address right away is every feature you had access to in mSecure 5 is available in mSecure 6. The only changes to features that existed in mSecure 5 was to enhance them but never to remove them. If you believe a feature was removed, can you let us know via the support email mentioned below? Also, I'm not sure what you are referring to when you mention hearing from the developer about our position at the end of your review, but we're more than happy to discuss whatever questions or concerns you have about mSecure. I can't do that here in the review section of the App Store, but if you send an email to "support@msevensoftware.com," I can respond to you personally.
