Great app!

I think this a great app! I got a Loog guitar and decided to get this app to help me. Turned out it works! It gives me great lessons a tuner and a lot more! I think if anyone else has a Loog guitar this app WILL help you. The only problem I have with the app is that when I’m playing a game on the game area it sometimes won’t hear me it gets really annoying. But overall it’s a great app and it can really help and you should definitely get it!

Bad

We bought this guitar for our 6 year old and thought it would be a great way to learn guitar. Not so much and this app certainly doesn’t help. We obviously don’t know how to play guitar, we want to learn. The pictures of the chords are confusing. Do we play just one string with the pick or all three together to make the chord? They never say. Then on Twinkle Twinkle they want you to put your finger way up by the tuning picks. What? So then you select the game to learn a song. Play one note, if you pass, they teach you two notes like the game Simon. However when you get to the third note when you have to move your fingers it only gives you like 2 seconds or you fail and have to start over. Who learns that quickly? Isn’t the point to learn? It’s like a really bad video game and the app also keeps shutting down. Not impressed at all. The guitar is cute but if you can’t learn thru the app, it’s nothing more than a cute guitar and I could’ve bought one at Walmart for $20. I don’t recommend this product or the app to anyone. Thumbs down.

Does not support Loog Ukelele

Can not select the Loog ukelele. This makes the app, including the tuner, unusable. Very disappointing for my child.

Microphone doesn’t pick up sound well

We are having a hard time, with the option of microphone during practice, it does not pick up sound very well. Also the tuner doesn’t function well either. Makes it really hard for a 4 year old to focus when the app doesn’t work well.

Terrible app

This is one of the worst learning apps I’ve ever used. I’ve given it a go a number of times, but everything is so poorly thought out. They spent so much time working on making it look cute, and very little time thinking about how the learning actually functions within the app. You basically have to already have all the chords and notes memorized to use any of the functions that teach you chords and notes. I’m not just a clueless learning who isn’t willing to put in the time. I have a fairly solid ability with ukulele learned through an app. This one just makes no sense and puts cuteness before usability.

Teaching great grandkids

This has create something that all my kids have in common with me, which is a good something…

Good

Pretty good

App needs help!

My 5 year old has great dexterity and is musically inclined. We got the Loog for Xmas and she loves it and firing up the app the first time she was focused and ready to play. She loved dressing up her monster, and the vibe of the app she loved! The art, the music, the videos, the guitar are great! Although the guitar honestly doesn’t sound any better than her 30 dollar Hape toy guitar.

The functionality of the app is just borked almost across the board. I have a brand new iPhone and very new iPad we tried playing on so we should be in good shape. Running barley hears the guitar, playing along with a song, doing chords what ever it is, the app ya a lot of trouble making out the string being played. Even when I play.

The game elements would be great fun and would easily keep my kiddo excited if the cost I’d things weren’t so high across the board from the start. She wants to go a couple chords which is tough for little 5 year old hands, then go get a prize. It’s made twice as hard because the app doesn’t pick up most strums.

The games would be cool too, but they are way too unforgiving. You should restart the kid with one failed accidental pluck of a a string. These are kids playing, their dexterity is still developing, the app could be great for that if it eased kids in slower.

Make it lest punishing, fix the listening aspect of the app, add more characters and customization with cheaper items! Do a few tests with friends and family and see what they say. It could be a great too for teaching but right now not so much.

I’ll keep checking back. There are some fun things happy for with this app, but it needs a lot of tweaking.

Worthless

My 8 year was super excited to play with this. After watching the video on how to tune and 10 excoriating minutes I took over trying to help. The app seemed to be only intermittently registering a note and i got different feedback based on which setting I was in (auto and manual). Auto consistent misidentified the string being tuned and gave different instructions than manual. Santa got him this and left a note telling him to practice. I’m not sure what’s worse, suffering through this misery or coming up with a cover story for how we returned it.

Tuner does not work

It is impossible to tune the guitar. It says that the same string is too low and too high at the same time. Since the app cannot get to accept our guitar’s sound, we cannot get any chord accepted and that means we cannot play one single song. The guitar is nice but the app simply doesn’t work as intended. I agree with other reviewers that it needs to allow for a little bit of forgiveness. I have spent more than an hour trying to tune the guitar but as I do, the system is very inconsistent. The same string that it has told me to tighten and tighten and tighten, it then asks me to loosen up ten times over. It makes no sense.
