Don’t need Wi-Fi or data to use this great app
The beauty of Karta gps is that you don’t need any data or WiFi for it to work. It functions as a GPS. It gives you the same features and experience as other navigational apps that require data. I don’t have data plan, so I really appreciate having this app. It updates directions in real time depending on my location. For example if I turn the wrong way, it will provide me with the adjusted route. It gives driving and walking directions. It has support in several languages including Russian. It also has option for different voices ( for the speaker). For additional small fee, it provides traffic info. It has ads but they don’t really interfere with the app and u can remove them for $2.99. It also makes small beep noises if u are going too fast, which I am guessing is a safety feature(the phone acts as an accelerometer , which is a cool concept). Looks like they don’t share the speed data with any third parties( though who knows) Anyways, if it was not for Karta GPS, I would not be able to drive to new places and to navigate in general. A couplerural nz locations can’t be searched.. but most map services can’t find them either! This is soo much better than google maps, I phone maps etc. so glad I found it!!Grega28

As soon as you press for the directions, an ad pops up! Also, the addresses are too generic. I typed in the name of a store of which I know three locations of and all I got was “St. Louis, MO” or a few of them just said “MO, United States”. How are you supposed to know where to go (or which location in this case) if you don’t get a street address?!Show lessKevinaw

Karta really needs to write a user manual! There is virtually nothing currently available to introduce the workings of Karta. For example how do you delete a map that is no longer needed?

Holiday detours
Hi download the app & decided to use it while we are on holiday up near Berwick on tweed
We traveled up from Cirencester to Peterborough & all was well but when we then went onto Ripon it just when a bit Lala
The best route was the A1 & A1M how strange that the app was trying to take us on every back B road there
The next day it did the same as we traveled up to Haggerston Castle also it was telling us that we were speeding (50)mph on A1M which is national speed limit (70)
Other faults tried to take us the wrong way down a duel carriage way by the Angel of the north then the wrong way around a roundabout
I think your software needs a bit of fixing but on the whole not bad HAVE SEEN WORSE

Hi Tony, we apologize for the experience. We are using OpenStreetMap data as the source for our map information, so some situations may arise due to being an open-sourced alternative. However, we are also improving the map data with our own, and we're doing all efforts to provide a good navigation platform. We'll be reviewing the situations in those areas. It is illegal to make a right turn from Vincent Street to Pitt Street in Auckland CBD, yet this app instruct just that.frederickeyap

It thinks I’m in Kansas, yet it knows how close things are to me, but all recommendations are in Kansas. For example, it recommends restaurants in Kansas, but when I put my work in, in NC, it knows I’m 21 miles away. Also, can’t see anything on the map, except a red circle in the middle of a black screen.Show lessKCFROMBC
Backup offline gps
Like it for being offline. Not the best graphics and accuracy at least the speed limit shows current info. Also zoom in zoom out takes you off road.DraakRene

Great to use, the features that are built in rival many other GPS that cost hundreds of dollars.
I used another app and was led down wrong directions numerous times.
