Which? User Reviews

Top reviews

No sync with their web site

It’s a good app, but if you shortlist something you can’t see that on the web

Good for what’s there

It shows in detail what’s on offer across the market for particular products. I used it to research which smart-watch to buy, because I was looking for value for money. It helped with that, I’m just slightly disappointed that there isn’t more to look at.

For example, there isn’t much in the way of reviews about many different household appliances available freely on the app, as you might expect from Which. It’s very limited in terms of what they provide reviews for. You’ve got the options of Tech, Home and Garden, Baby and Child and Cars and Travel. But these categories don’t encompass everything you might expect them to.

Saying all that, I enjoy having the app as a second opinion, but would suggest not letting it make your final decision for you.

First place to check almost anything

When looking to buy something (almost any regular consumer item), whether in a shop (when we can do that again!) or online, this is the first place I look to check what items are worth considering and which aren’t (and see which aren’t even on the list). Then I go shopping.

One has to take a little care, however; Which can only review so many things and keep tabs on new items and products and models etc as they come on the market. So their reviews might not include the latest model that might actually turn out to be the best.

Very useful and easy to navigate

I signed up to this app as I wanted to buy a new tumble dryer and wanted to avoid an expensive mistake. There are so many out there! Came up with the goods and was clearly able to compare initial step cost for the machine versus utility savings down the line. Have since reviewed other items which have saved me money as expensive isn’t always the best! Worth the initial and ongoing cost to sign up to which. I do find that I need to run alongside price runner to get the best deal - in stock items but not a problem.
Highly recommended!

No search returns at all

Am a subscriber. Received an email from Which advising Christmas Best Buy’s. Search on Which had no results. In fact, the search function across the board returns “no results” whatever the query. Absolutely useless.

Indispensable

Which? app has saved me money and saved me from making disappointing purchases. Particularly good for expectant parents choosing baby gear!

While our shopping I always check Which before deciding

This app is so convenient.
If buying electronics or any big ticket items I always check the WHICH APP while in the shop or if shopping online.
It has helped me to shop smarter and avoid being tempted by promotions on inferior products.
On 2 occasions, ‘ The WHICH APP ’ Information deterred me from purchasing products that were on promotion..... that were rated as which worst buys. Without the app I would most definitely have purchased the products because of the discounted rate and likely been disappointed.

Not a great app

I sometimes find that this app doesn’t have all reviews in it. The selection of items in a given category/search result can be limited and if you go to the website there’s a much larger range of items to look at.

The app used to close whenever you switched out to a different app, so you’d have to start again from the menu when switching back in. This has now been patched out, but a new bug that’s even more annoying has been introduced. Whenever you’re reading a review, the app constantly refreshes the page right after you scroll down, booting you back up to the top again. Sometimes you can get a couple of screen lengths down, sometimes you can’t get off the top of the page at all. It makes it completely impossible to read anything.

So despite the recent update, you’re still better off just using the website.

Annoying and rarely finds what you’re looking for

I hardly ever review things or apps but I’ve really been tiring of Which lately and thinking I should just cancel. I was excited to check out many things via the app on my recent phone (iPhone). I used it quite easily at first for cordless vacuums and it helped me decide on the one we have, fair enough. S

However, using the search function either in chosen tabs to narrow things down or just right from home screen just constantly says ‘no results found’ - even if I give exact product name! I doubled checked I’m using products I know which talk about so seriously doubt this search outcome. I gave up after trying to check for car reviews. Now I’ve started looking at pillows, once again I have the same (lack of) result on their website after I logged in and so I check in the app....yes, that’s right, it’s coming up blank trying to get review panels and info on brands I even typed in a specific one they state elsewhere is a winner and nothing.
Really cross as I’m paying for nothing other than the magazine it seems.

As a Which? Consumer's Association member this App potentially offers incredibly useful guides and reviews of almost all major items any household purchases, IF ONLY YOU CAN GET PAST THE APPALLING SEARCH TOOL which is at best hit and miss but more commonly useless.

Which? Consumer’s Association offers peace of mind and ensures most of our purchases have verified independent reviews and testing so that we can optimise that high quality, reliability, durability and good value for money compared to the mass of mediocre or appalling products out there. It saves thousands of pounds over the years. Shame the App and search tool contradicts these high ideals. Having made a complaint about the dreadful search functionality to Which? I ended up making a complaint about the complaints process because they reworded my complaint to trivialise it and make it far narrower in scope so that they could easily shut the complaint down. This is the kind of appalling attitude we get from the worst in class customer service across broadband, insurance, utilities etc it was SHOCKING to find which behaving like a bottom feeding lowest common denominator rogue trader!!!
