  • Absolutely Amazing

I figured this was gonna be a game to waste time on while drinking, but I was proven wrong. I couldn’t put it down. The way the game just puts you in the seat and sends you going! A very unique game from start to, well, wherever I am in it right now at least. I love playing games made by smaller developers, there’s definitely more of a heartfelt craft to it. I’d give it more of a review, but it seems I’ve only scratched the surface. Thank you for such a great experience Skot! I can’t wait to get further in and see what else you have in store!

  • i love it! (and a message)

it’s hard for me to find games i can get really into- but this was amazing. i’m not even finished yet, but it’s put quite a few things into perspective for me. i will say, for anyone reading this, be aware that there is a lot of parts that say “you are not real, able black” and many things such as that- but stay aware that you are real. Able Black is a game, a beautiful one at that, but you are not.

again, this game is beautiful and it’s overall amazing. thank you to the developer for making such an amazing thing!

  • This Story is Amazing!

This game- no, this story, is amazing. At first, I didn’t think I’d like it, with all of the text and reading and such. But I got sucked in and became my character as I was reading, feeling what they felt, saw what they saw, etc. I didn’t realize how long I had been going through it until my stomach growled!

I have recommended this to a few people already, and I will keep recommending it! If you would like to escape, be a part of a new adventure, please; download this story. I would highly recommend wearing a good pair of headphones or earbuds, something that provides surround-sound. In my opinion, it helps to really enrapture you! I suggest earbuds or headphones, that way it will feel like you’re truly *there*.

I just finished my first play-through a few minutes ago, actually. I’m off to go discover what else is in store for me!!

Thank you so much, Skot, for creating such an in-depth, enrapturing experience! Such a great means of escape. You are truly gifted!!

  • Pretty cool Skot

The storyline is interesting and engaging. Some parts leave me at the edge of my seat (won’t say bc they are spoilers!).The puzzles for the most part aren’t too tricky. I have the urge to play from the beginning again to see what my character gets/ if the results change when finishing each portion of the exam.
The visual aesthetics are cool. I can’t believe this was independently made, obviously the creator put a lot of time and effort into this game. As a player, I appreciate seeing the creator reaching out to you sincerely- it gives that sense of connection between creator and consumer. Keep it up Skot👍🏽

  • Good job with creating the mood of the game

Overall this is a great game, Skot! I appreciate your design and I would say it is a piece of art. It also conveys the dark, depressive mood very well. However, I think there are still room to improve in terms of the plot. The plot sometimes involves choices and I wish you could make those moments interactable choices, instead of the actual choices in the game about our opinions on the fable or certain animals, which to me are less important, and the note that come woth each choice does not seem to matter in terms of plot so I feel like these choices are kind of pointless.

  • Refreshing.

Anytime I play free mobile games, I can most-certainly expect them to be dull, repetitive, and chalk-full of ads. In this case, the odds were quite the contrary. From the atmospheric music to the simple and captivating design- everything was splendid. The science-fiction genre of games isn’t one that I find the most intriguing in regular cases, but with the way the developer of Able Black laid out the story, there was no way I couldn’t be sucked in. It’s an interactive read-through game which may not be for everyone, but as someone who loves reading and writing, it was a most refreshing experience. I’d just like to thank the developer for putting their time into such an amazing project, and encourage anyone in search of a spontaneous adventure to give this little app a try. It’s definitely worth your time.

  • Absolutely Stunning

Just WOW. At a loss for words, really-- I found this by chance and expected to be impressed based on the reviews, but the actual experience has completely floored me.

The interface is beautiful and the sound adds enough to enhance without distracting. The writing is easily good enough to be a published novel (hell, the entire idea is). The concept is captivating, and the execution is flawless. How can this gem be completely free?! I appreciate that so much but I'd also gladly, gladly pay to support this. If there is more-- and I sure hope there is-- consider me first in line.

My only critique would be to have the number/letter selections for the puzzle be a spin wheel instead of a click progression for efficiency and to prevent the frustration of overclicking, but that's just a nitpick. Some of the puzzles are extremely challenging but the hints are very helpful and I liked how stimulating they were. I had to look up some of them because my brain is too small, but all of the solutions make perfect sense.

Thank you so much for creating this masterpiece. I feel so blessed to have found this game and I hope more people do because they're missing out. Definitely the most underrated game on the app store by far. Also....skot ;-)

    Developer Response

This made my day. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. I like the spinner idea. I wrestled with using a keyboard because I felt it broke the immersive vibe. Spinners may be in my future.
  • I didn’t think a free game could be this good

The writing in this game is fantastic I’m him and I can feel the emotions he can feel and the anger and frustration and the fear and joy and love and aaahhahahaah it’s soo good. The puzzles are engaging and difficult and often make you think 3 dimensionally. I felt personal when answering the questions. I felt rebellious when I picked the ones that I knew would make mother mad. This was defiantly not what I expected but it was a pleasant surprise. The only problem that I hade with it was the ending some of the things that happened before didn’t really add up at the end. I don’t know if I’m just too small brain to understand or if it’s just a plot hole. Any way with a few hours of ur time for sure.

  • Outstanding Game

For a game that is 100% free, this is insane! The aesthetic of the game is quite pleasing, and the music helps create a great atmosphere and enhances the story. The story itself is also very interesting. I don’t the choices really affect the story, but I’m not sure. The puzzles themselves weren’t super hard, but it’s nice to have hints if you’re unsure. The only thing that was weird when answering the puzzles were that sometimes I’d have the correct numbers, but the correct answer was my original answer but backwards. Besides that, all of the riddles were quite fair. I really liked the ending, and I enjoyed finishing all of the Easter eggs too. I really wish there was a sequel. I need to know what happens next. I want Able Black to be able to wake Maryann and discover more of their past.
    Besides that, 10/10!
    Thank you Skot!

  • This game is really amazing

I couldn’t believe that this game was made by just one person. I loved every part of this game, I love puzzles, I love crazy storylines just like this one, I love the character development, I love the twist near the end of the game, and mostly I just love the overall aesthetic of the game. These are probably one of my favorite types of mobile games since I can choose what I want and I can see how those choices affect the game. I would really like to see more chapters to be added to this game and to see more puzzles added along with it. Can’t wait to see what you got next Skot. :)
