Has had potential for years and yet, nothing has improved.
It’s pretty much looked like this for years now. As stated, it does have potential. I generally quite like it, but for example, I use Google Calendar for month view as it shows details and not just some dots and the details down the bottom for a day you particularly want to look at. It’s a pity as the Apple calendar colours are better than Google. Maybe this year with iOS16 we might finally see an update.
AND why does a calendar event disappear as soon as it hits the start time; this is on the widgets.

Use it all the time but recent bugs make me look into other apps.
I rely heavily on this calendar app, it was simple, organized and connected to all my devices. But recently I have been experiencing events dropping off my calendar with no trace or warning. Things I know I have put into my calendar verified it’s there and then a week later cannot find it. Also experiencing events jumping from calendar to calendar- my default calendar also keeps changing and I keep changing it back. Who knows maybe I’ve been hacked…but I am swapping to another calendar app.
I have a very very busy schedule and one dropped or moved event can cause a cascade of issues, not to mention loss of income. Especially if I know I am not the one deleting events. Also there’s no way to turn off multiple alerts for basic events- like birthday calendar & contact calendar showing up in duplicate and triplicate on the calendar. Because contacts are triplicating contacts over the many different apps.
Not happy.
Another disappointment is that it’s difficult to view my month or week at a glance and see my general business status. Makes it twice as difficult to balance work and life if you can’t view what’s happening in an overview.

Random, unidentified invites
I have not had my tablet very long and have never used invites to anyone from my apple devices. Yet I have received a number of random, unidentified invites. What I have noticed about apple is that I get these type of things via text group messages. Worst is apple seems to put everyone in an automatic trust without question, automatically acknowledging that the message was received and read! How incredibly naïve.
I don’t like this. I don’t send group invites, I don’t want to receive them without verification of authenticity. Specially from unknown , hidden source’s. Apple doesn’t make it easy to block or filter these. There are no straightforward ways to select block message sender and\or report. I ask for labeled icons from a labeled menu.

Bliss for a Mum of 3 and a working boyfriend 😌
This is my go-to organiser for events my kids have. Avril (aged 4) Owen (5) and Zach (1) are forever getting invited to birthdays, play dates and camps, not to mention my boyfriend so this is an amazing organiser for me so I can say, ‘I’m sorry, we’re busy that day, any other time?’ Honestly a life saver. I’d be lost without it. I can have everything in one place, like how many play dates Avril has, how many birthdays Owen has, how many playgroups Zach has, and how many meetings my boyfriend Xander has. Life saver!! 😰

How is it this bad?
Organisation is poor, the system is barebones and doesn’t allow for much customisation. It sends reminders for events I haven’t even added and doesn’t remind me of the ones I have. You’re only allowed two alerts and only fixed alerts up to a week prior? How is Apple’s calendar this bad in 2022? Your app has 2.6 stars at the time of writing, is that not pretty shameful? There’s no point having animated face tracking emojis if the core apps are not good, most people use their in built calendar but this is unusable to me, which is a shame because I don’t want to use and alternative like Google who will track every little thing. Seems like the superficial branding is just that, and the overall quality and valued for money (or customers) has reduced, sort it out Apple.

No search results before the last 365
I used to be able to search when the last doctor appointments were, certain trips, special days using key words. Now, unless the event I’m looking for happened within the last year, I better be around my computer or have a paper calendar that goes back far enough. Limiting the search results times was a decision that greatly lacked foresight and kills user ability. If they wanted to add an option to select if you wanted to limit search results fine. But there are a large number of people who are getting different calendars now or searching for a workaround for iCal. Please remove the limit.

I was in the same position Liz was dead phone
Liz I quite agree I had this calendar and took it off my phone it drained my battery also and put me in jeopardy. And I’m not talking the game jeopardy. But I was in the middle of a town that I didn’t know and it was the middle of the night and with a dead phone you have no contacts. I also decided to get a tiny phonebook which you can buy at like a dollar store usually and write my closest contacts numbers down. We probably should all do that anyways specially if the Internet goes down and your phone goes dead. I decided and I did make a 3 x 5 card for all my friends and I keep it at home in my safe. We’ve come to rely on electronics far too much. There’s nothing wrong with a pen and paper or a pen and a 3 x 5 card for back ups. But I did get rid of this calendar and I chose a different calendar that’s worked well for me. Good luck

Apple has the best everything…. Except this
Please update your calendar! It is the worst calendar app! When I open my calendar, I want to see a quick view of my month. All you provide is a bunch of dots that tell me I might have something planned that day. That doesn’t help me stay focused and organized in the slightest. Instead I have to open each day individually to see what the dang dot is. ( I know, first world problems). This is why I use google calendar. Way more user friendly and I can easily make changes to several of my calendars at once. I can easily glance at my calendar and plan events. I just wished it had the seamlessness most all other apples apps have with iPhone, but it doesn’t because it’s obviously google. If there’s anything apple truly fails at. It’s this app right here. You’d think that with a multibillion dollar company that probably makes thousands of events, plans, and meetings per day, they’d have a solid calendar app. I’m willing to take a bet that not even your own employees use this calendar for their engagements. It’s a shame!

Big Brother Apple doesn’t care.
This Apple app (and others*) has stunk for over a decade. The minimal improvements needed to make it functional could easily have been fixed by now. Utterly useless alerts will ruin your day if not career bc in spite of complaints going back to 2008 about how silent they are and other issues, Apple is a trillion dollar public company and doesn’t care bc they get their money with phone cycle sales n other subscriptions. So Calendar, Mail and search features on the iPhone etc never needed to reached true functionality bc Apple got your money when you bought their phone. So why bother…leave it to the 3rd party app developers to create one. …but oh, that’s a workaround bc they’ll most likely not integrate into the Apple system as well.

I went back in time
The app itself is pretty good, and it has its use’s. I noticed something that can happen when you are looking at the years. If you are look at the years where it shows all the months, you can scroll through past years. I scrolled and scrolled. Apparently people were using calendar before frigin christ! I could have scrolled to the years where the dinosaurs were if I was enough time. I thought that the past years would end about the time calendar was created, or like if you scroll ten years ago. My point is that it makes no sense that you can scroll that far into the past for no reason.
