Reviews of Google Calendar

  • Flawless

I have used this app for over five(5) years. I am a union rep with multiple meetings and contract negotiations. I find that creating an event or having someone create an event is super easy. It links instantly. I get reminded of my scheduled events which is a life saver. The color codes are just as awesome. Being able to look at my whole month is very convenient. I immediately know at a glance if I am available to set or accept another meeting. Accepting a meeting or event from my email automatically links it to my calendar if accepted. I don’t have to go and manually add it.
I read some of the comments and I have not once experienced any of the ones mentioned. Thank goodness.
The only thing I wished could be added is when I need to edit a color for an event it will not let you. I have to delete it and assign it a new color. Other then that inconvenience, I am very satisfied with this app.
  • Syncing Issues With Desktop

The iOS google calendar app WILL NOT sync with events added on a desktop browser unless the app is left open in the background or opened manually, therefore I sometimes do not get notifications. If it was personal use I probably wouldn’t have this issue since all events would be added through the app, but my company uses google and I’m at my desk adding and accepting meeting invites. I have missed meetings at times when I have not opened up the calendar app between accepting the invite and the time of the meeting. The only way I can guarantee that I’ll get the notifications is if I add the google account to the standard iPhone calendar, which will actually fetch the data from my google account and provide me notifications. I have messed with all notification settings, fetch/push days settings, background app refresh, etc. 2 stars because while everything else about the app is fine, this is an extraordinarily basic function. If I miss a meeting because of a hole you’re calendar service, no matter how seemingly insignificant, then the service has failed it’s purpose despite any other conveniences it provides.
  • Nice visual calendar, one major flaw

Let me start by saying that are use this calendar exclusively for family appointments, events, all the things, no paper calendars for us. I used to use this calendar all the time, every day to add entries and search for past and upcoming events and the search feature no longer works at ALL! This is why I stop using it, this feature is literally the reason why I don’t use paper calendars or wall calendars anymore. We are always looking for events that are coming up (who has time to remember every date?) and I do not have the patience to scroll for a weeks at a time looking for the event. If I want to look up the last time I got a haircut to know when to schedule my next one, I would do a search for this and book it ….However the magnifying glass search feature is completely out of commission now, for over a week. No matter what word search I type, even if I am staring at the event on my screen, if I do a search for it, it tells me that there are no entries with that title. Um what?? I just went through the trouble of deleting and reinstalling the app and to no avail, it still does not work. Now I am going to have to find a new Calendar app because this one has some kind of bug and no longer works as intended at all. Fix this bug, Google!
