  • Good app but intensely rigged

The reason I keep coming back to this game is because of how clean it looks and quick it is. However if you’re looking for a fair game forget about it. I’ve gotten friends and family to play this game with me and they all say the same thing... they’ve never played a backgammon app this rigged in their lives. I had to come see the App Store reviews because I knew it wasn’t just me. Like people are saying, if you do everything right and are way ahead, prepare for constant doubles from the other side. Want to get out? If the game doesn’t feel like it prepare to wait. I’ve been playing backgammon since I was a kid and I had a cousin who had never played the game before download the app to play me as an experiment and no joke I could only win like 1 out of every 7 games. He made every single wrong move and left pieces open all over the board and it just wouldn’t let me win. Absolute insanity. Beyond frustrating and even though they say the rolls are completely random it is simply not even close to true. I feel bad leaving a review like this but I feel it aggravates me so much sometimes I want people to stay away if this would aggravate them too. I’m sorry..

  • Canned Developer Response/Still a Fun Game

I stick by my premise that the game is fun but the dice rolls are not realistic. I did get a response from the developer on an earlier review, but it was simply a canned one that is used over & over in different forms for other people who have voiced the same constructive criticism I gave. It didn’t bother me, and was actually kind of funny & amusing: “Thank you very much for your response!” (Building rapport) “The dice are not set in any way to be fixed or for a predetermined outcome.” (You are wrong - the game isn’t fixed). “We want all of our
players to have a wonderful, unique and enjoyable experience.” (We are just good people and our product is awesome. If you think something is out of sorts, you are simply mistaken.) “We truly wish you all the best and hope you enjoy our product!” (Polite, but a dismissal just the same). I’m not offended or put off, not at all. Like I mentioned previously, the game can be fun to play so it’s not all bad. Finally, to the developers, I absolutely wish you all the best with your wonderful, astonishing and aesthetically pleasing product, and wish you all the absolute best in your future endeavors! God speed, and have a fantastic day!

Hi mmik77, Thank you for your rating. Our goal is to provide our players with an authentic and enjoyable backgammon experience, by randomly matching you with players from around the world. The dice rolling system isn’t related to players’ data, there is no winner choosing, the outcome isn’t predictable, and depends solely on your luck and strategy. Wishing you plenty of wins:-)
  • Rake is 15%

I enjoy the app, it’s very easy to find a game. It’s easy to get frustrated with dice, but that happens in any game, I’ve measured a few times and results appear like they may be random.
But I don’t understand why the developers say the rake isn’t 15%. My coin total was 603,987 before my last game, won a $2500 game and total is 605,737. That the rake is $750 is just math. And they don’t take more than your bet if you lose, so the $750 is on the total $5000 bet which is 15% exactly (not something much less than 15%, as your developer said in response to the last reviewer.
Why not just be honest about this? It’s fine, it’s what the game costs, if I don’t like it then I go elsewhere. If you don’t want it to be 15%, then fix it. But when you lie about this, it makes me wonder, maybe I should do more tests in the actual randomness of the dice. But whether I do or not, your response now makes me wonder if the game is fair. And I don’t know why you’d want your customer base wondering that.

  • Don’t download this game.

It is doubtful the rolls on this game are legitimate. Having played backgammon for decades, the dice in this game are “off”. I’m beginning to think this game app is rigged in order to get players to buy more credits. In fact, the proof is in the pudding. The “other player” gets the EXACT roll they need probably about 70-80% of the time. Have never seen that when playing in real life. It’s safe to assume at this point, the “other player” is simply AI...and the rolls will go against you consistently to get you to spend more money. The developers just do a horrible job hiding it. C’mon, developers. Don’t be so greedy. At least make it a little more subtle. Either way...you, the consumer, should not download this game.

I’d like to point out to the consumer reading this: note how many people are telling you the game is rigged. Developer always denies it. But if you have any experience playing backgammon in real life, the odds of some of these rolls are astronomical. Don’t believe the developers responses. They are 100% lying.

  • Ugh!!

I love to play backgammon but this app is suspicious. I call it that because I can guess how to play my pieces just by the roll of the dice! I spend too much money on coins and can NEVER get ahead of what I have purchased!! Most of the time my opponents roll exactly what they need to trap me or beat me. When your opponent gets lucky like that to start the game DO NOT accept a double because you will end up trapped in the bar until your opponent gets all of their pieces in their side and kicks you out then you’ll have to race to get into yours or you’ll get gammoned and end up losing double!! Just when I am so frustrated to quit the game they’ll “throw me a bone” and give me rolls to trash my opponent and get some of my coins back. Then I go on an “unlucky” streak again. If you like to play mechanically it’s enjoyable, the boards are nice and the pieces move smoothly, but there’s no way the dice are random. No way. Don’t buy coins and just play the least expensive if you don’t care about your “dollar amount”. Ready to find another place to play. 🤷🏽

  • Absolutely Rigged

I read reviews regarding how rigged this app is, and after playing and investing for a long time, I cannot continue to enjoy the game with such unfair and calculated dice. The game is so obviously stacked against those who actually purchase chips. Trying to generate bigger and more expensive packages-brilliant. Interesting also how my win ratio never moved from 47%. After getting to 105 level - the dice got worse and worse. Ha! I will be adding to those negative reviews. I was stupid to stick with it as long as I did. Greed on your part has led to losing another loyal player. Your response of total denial and unfair skimming on earnings is quite expected- go ahead and defend your algorithms and most up to date generated crap. Its a lie and you know it. Don’t be lured into this app- it’s dangerous.

  • Don’t Waste Your Time & Money

If you want to play REAL backgammon, hop on PlayOk or another reputable site. This app is a complete money-grabbing sham, and for them to say otherwise is even worse. I honestly don’t know where to begin. Their “online standard” 15% minimum rake is blasphemy. Maybe if one could cash in the coins for real money, that would make sense; similar to a casino poker room. But not only are you buying coins that have zero monetary value, they skim off your winnings, making it virtually impossible to get ahead in coins. And that is even with a >50% win rate! The dice algorithm is absolutely cooked. If you’re miles ahead, prepare to see double after double after double. If you’re on the bar looking at 3 open spaces, you can almost forget about getting in. Then (you guessed it!) doubles to block you in. The game plays impossibly “lucky”. I can’t count how many times I’ve opened the game with a 5-1 or 6-2, get hit immediately, and don’t get off the bar until after the opponent has eaten 4 blots. The odds of that happening once are less than 0.1%, so the fact it’s happened on multiple occasions on this app tells you everything you need to know. Not to mention I have never had that happen in my favor. You are a fool if you give these crooks your hard earned money. If you are new to backgammon, stay far away because this is NOT how the game is played. I have played my last game on this app, and I hope many of you will be soon to follow.

Hi IckyShart, Thank you for taking the time to post your review. First, in regards to the rake fee, where a small amount (and not 15%) is deducted from each opponent, this is a very common practice in online games and is unrelated to your opponent’s balance. Second, We can assure you that the dice in Lord of the Board are based on the most leading random dice engines that ensure that each dice roll is completely random and fair. These engines are being constantly monitored, and have proven to be very trustworthy. We have no control over the games’ outcomes, which depend solely on your skills and the luck of the dice. Wishing you plenty of big wins!
  • As rigged as it gets

If you’ve been trying to find a backgammon game that isn’t predetermined before the first dice are rolled, This isn’t it. I’ve been playing for about 2 months now and have seen WAY to many “Perfect” rolls and kept trying to chalk it up to the luck of the roll. I really wanted to like this game. Final nail in the coffin for me is when I tried to resign from a game and the resignation was already predetermined to be a gammon when I had SEVERAL ways to get a piece home before that happened. The other player had 9 pieces left on the board and I only needed to get 2 from the second quadrant home. When resigning, it was predetermined that it was a gammon and took double money from me. That’s happened 3 times now. Kept thinking I was doing something to cause it but nope. Just predetermined dice rolls.
Just like all the other backgammon games in the App Store, this one is designed and
Programmed to simply get you to spend real money on imaginary points. Stopped being fun weeks ago... game deleted.

  • Fixed Rolls

Of course I don’t have proof, and not able to provide unless the company is willing to fork over their algorithms; however, utterly and completely rigged game. It’s all based of coins and whether you have them or not. If you are low on count, I miraculously have a string of good luck, conversely, if you are high on count, and happen to bet big, your chances of good rolls greatly reduces. I’m not a paying customer so in order for the app to keep me playing, they must not allow me to accumulate points without kicking some funds their way. Total sham of an app and obviously no skill involved whatsoever. I conducted an experiment: I predicted the outcome that my opponent would roll when I was low on count and when I was high on count. When I was low on count, out of 10 rolls, I was only able to predict one, sometimes zero, but when I was high on count or betting big (5-10k range), I was able to predict 5 out of the 10 rolls, almost every time. This is highly improbable and quite frankly impossible to do. TOTAL SHAM of a game and if any of you put your money in this, please ask for a refund.
