  • Doesn’t keep your place

This app sometimes just loses your place, and with the mediocre navigation methods, it makes the app almost unusable. I’ve spent so much time looking for where I was before my place was lost. Unfortunately, if you want to listen to these books on mobile, it seems like there is no other option. With such a high membership fee, I really expected better.

  • Movement stops the playback

We have used the apps for years for my three dyslexic
It has started reacting to movement more than before

While drive it will stop or restart
Need to be able to turn off movement reactions
  • Thanks

So last year when I was in sixth grade, I was shown this awesome reading website on our school chrome books and I loved how you could change the speed and color of everything. This helps me a lot and now because of Learning Ally I am kinda fast at reading and I love how I can just lay down in my bed and listen to the story. This has really changed how I read and now I love to go on it and I still go on it to this day.

  • Ugh!

The service they provide is wonderful but the app is awful. Glitchy and sometimes it won’t even open. This company upsets me because they are supposed to help people who need assistive technology and they make the app better because they know our population does not have another choice. This is taking advantage of people and monopolizing the market. Please fix it. This has the potential to be a great app

  • Unusable app

Rarely do I even review apps, but I have to warn those trying to use this app. This is completely unusable. It’s not user friendly at all. Then if you think your child can navigate it, forget it. It’s a multi step process to download a book and then get to opening it. Then trying to delete a book is even worse. You have to “return” a book to download another!! Seriously...as if it was a hard copy. Destroys the purpose.

  • One of my the buggiest apps ever

This service is great, it’s gotten me through college, but the software layer over the service is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. The app needs to be open to download a book, you can’t see your download percentage without pushing your download, it plays interface audio cues such as clicks and bells as AUDIO FILES, interrupting other system audio such as music, downloads randomly freeze… I could go on. Please, burn this app in a fire, hire an actual competent software engineer and designer, and build a real app.

Gains one star back for the actual service part–Huge selection of books and good-enough reading productions.

  • Great app occasionally have issues with opening

We’ve been using this app for two years. It is great! Our child has dyslexia and this app has helped develop a love for reading! Occasionally it will not open on the iPad and the only way to get it to open is to uninstall and reinstall the app. Would be great to get this fixed.
  • Locks up when you pause

This app needs work. If you hit pause and your phone sleeps, or you get out of the app to answer your phone, text etc, the app locks up. You have to close it and restart it. Sometimes it remembers where you were, sometimes not. And it crashes and closes too. This app isn’t friendly for the visually impaired. It needs work.

  • Need faster playback rate

I am a long time user of Learning Ally. I go back to the RFB&D days with daisy readers. I used to love using the old app because i could crank up the classic audio rate to a high speed such as 300%, which is very important for getting reading and work done efficiently. As I am dyslexic, I can’t sit down and read a book at 600+ wpm, but I prefer to listen at such high speeds. Now I feel very limited as it sounds like the top speed is only around 200%, or 2x. I can’t get my work done like I used to and it is very frustrating. Honestly I don’t really care how the app functions or looks as long as I can listen at very high speeds. I hope you can fix this. I’m sure that I am not alone as most other folks with dyslexia who I’ve talked to prefer to listen at high rates as well.

  • Issues need to be fixed

I love learning ally and the wide range of books they offer. This app has some issues with losing my place in he book (not a huge issue). HOWEVER, it takes literally hours to download my book. Too long :(
