  • No CSV export is a deal breaker

I have been using the app for a few days and While the app is extremely easy to use and removes friction in tracking meals/stool/meds/symptoms, not having a csv export option is a huge deal breaker for me. The level of analysis that can be achieved within the app and dashboard is minimal and is not conducive to the detective work required for someone with IBS to pinpoint trends over time and identify what irritants might be present in one’s diet.

Additionally most doctors prefer seeing raw data in a spreadsheet format rather than what an app deems to be medically useful, so the shareable web dash is not useful for this use case. Extremely disappointed I put the time in to record my health info in this app for several days only to find that CSV export is not an option. As an app developer myself, I know how easy it is to include this feature and I’m astonished to find a health app without it. If this is something that is important to you, I do not recommend this app.

Hi AnnoyedBirdUser, we are sorry that you've had a disappointing experience with our app. Actually there is a CSV export option in the app, even if I have to admit that it is a bit hidden. You can contact our customer support via chat in the app or at hello@cara.care so we can explain to you how the data export works.
  • Amazing App!

I have undiagnosed IBS. This app has helped me so much! I can track my food, water, stool, meds, and so much more! You can also write notes down from that day. For girls, think an app that helps track your period (which this app can do too). What I mean by that is, it can tell you what foods upset your stomach and what foods your stomach likes. Like for me, cheese upsets my stomach and yogurt helps calm it down. Overall, this is like all health apps combined pretty much as far as food goes. The complete best thing is that it’s free! There’s no fee you have to pay to use it, it’s free. I will never go back to a different app ever again!

  • Great App and support

I’ve only been using this app for a few days but it’s a great app for tracking food and symptoms. I have an autoimmune disease and I like that I can create custom symptom tags to track the symptoms unique to me. I also like that I can turn off tracking for other areas that I’m not personally monitoring (bowel, water intake, exercise). It’s highly customizable. The support from the app developers/app team is great too. They helped me further customize my data to get better results. This is an excellent free resource and could benefit many people, so I hope more and more people use it. Thanks!

  • Overall great app

I have severe GI issues. I’m vegan, highly stressed all the time, and travel a lot. I have been diagnosed with IBS (who hasn’t really?) but I don’t follow the FODMAP diet due to most of my vegan foods being no-no’s. I choose to go the probiotic, supplements for bloating, and metabolism boosting route. However, because I chose this route, I often have symptoms. Cara allows me to track them and actually have something to show when I go into the GI specialist. It’s easy to find patterns on my own, and I love how thorough the tracking system is. It’s wonderful to keep an eye on what may be going on in my life that is making my GI upset worse. Real talk. Few glitches here and there with functionality, but overall, I like this app and find it useful.

  • Great App for Symptom Tracking

I've been using this a few days now and it is exactly what I was looking for. It takes a little fiddling to get used to it but I picked it up quick and it is very simple to add to foods and symptom quickly. The goal is to get as much info recorded as possible and then it will give you feedback and connections. The ease of use helps to keep you consistent in recording info. Those that want the calorie tracking in it I think are missing the point and it really would add more time to recording info to have that feature. I do like you can take pictures of your meals. Really great app and I'm so glad I found it!

  • Great so far

I found myself needing to track my food for some possible digestive issues and pain. I tried tracking in another app but it tracked calories, which I don’t need to do and I found it was making me a bit silly with that info. Plus it didn’t allow me to track pain. Then I found this app. I can turn off the things I don’t want to track and it allows me to get all the info I need. I already recommended it to my sister and I can see how it could benefit someone who doesn’t need to track anything but just wants to see an overall picture. I do think if nutritional information is added later it would be great to be able to turn on or off. Overall I have been really happy!

  • Great App - does exactly what’s needed!

This app has really helped me with tracking my food and correlating it to my symptoms. I am grateful for that! The only thing I beg, is to allow use on more than one device! I am not permitted to have my personal cell phone at work, and have to use my work phone while I’m there. I downloaded the app on both devices, only to find I had to reverify my account anytime I use a different phone. It’s cumbersome to do that a couple times each day, as I try not to touch my work phone in the evenings. I know this probably applies to very few, but it makes tracking harder and I just don’t understand why that limitation is there. (Please help!) Otherwise, well done and highly recommended!

  • Still THE best - ride out the update

(I changed my review from three to five stars since they’ve been so diligent about taking feedback on the latest update)

Absolutely *the* most comprehensive whole body app around. Yes, the new update has some bugs, and yes, they are working on it. (I’ve sent them extensive screenshots and they’ve replied to my annoyingly detailed messages so kindly) This is not just for IBS or gastrointestinal issues, my psychiatrist actually recommended it for my bipolar meds and sleep/meal/exercise tracking. If you’re looking for a calorie/quick weight loss fix, this is not for you. If you’re looking for something that will help you improve your overall wellbeing for a lifetime, download this app. Whole health is comprehensive and involves far more than fat/calories, and this app covers it ALL - sleep, skin, physical pain vs mental pain, so many others that I’ve forgotten! You can adjust the lineup as needed in order of most frequently used. I cannot say enough good about Cara, and now include their team in that praise as well. I would easily pay for this the same I do for my Calm app, and it’s FREE and ad free. Download this! No question.

  • Fantastic for GERD, IBS, psych disorders

Honestly, this app is ridiculously good. I’ve never written an app review before.. that’s how good this app is. Some of the UI could use a little work but the developers are clearly listening to suggestions and improving things (had a new update today!). Has really helped me track what I WANT to track, rather than being forced by an app to track calories when I list foods. Leaves a lot of room for personalization. No ads, no cost. I enjoy this app enough that I would happily pay for it.

Works well as a mood tracker too for depression, anxiety, BPD if you don’t want to go into incredible detail about mood and just want to see how your lifestyle choices impact mood.

  • First Week Using Cara

I have Crohn’s disease and so far this has been a fascinating tool to track so many valuable aspect of my diet and digestion and exercise. Eager to see what is coming in the announced updates soon. Hoping for a good scanning option like they use for medications, works well. Also, would like to see incorporation of weight tracking, not just targeted at weight loss but truly historical tracking of weight gain and loss. This is still a very robust app for keeping track of the wide variety of variables that contribute to everyone’s overall well being. Keep up the great work here!
