Pay to win ad generator

TLDR: Campaign is pay to play Multiplayer is pay to win. Get two+ ads/offers after every game.
Campaign is unlocked through purchase. I’ve got no issue with this but if I’m paying decent money for a story it’d better be good. The free to play section of the campaign gives a lot to be desired and no confidence that there is any story let alone a good one.

However, this game is designed for multiplayer action. I’ve played games like this for 15 years and enjoy them immensely. This one has some interesting dynamics and features that add to the complexity, it’s not just a numbers game, which is great! But it is overshadowed by the fact that a free to play player cannot beat someone who has paid to buy artificial and/or premium access. At $132 per year for premium access I’d buy an A grade title and get something that will provide ongoing quality. To be clear I’m not against companies making a buck but a game tailored for multiplayer ruined by pay to win is incredibly disappointing.

Hey Mushroom General, thanks a lot for taking the time and writing a review! We’re offering Mushroom Wars 2 completely free to download and experience what the game is about, yet we also need to recoup our development costs and have a snack once in a while, so we look at ways on how to get that done. If you have a better idea of how we can keep a better balance between your game experience and rewarding developers in turn, we’re more than happy to get your feedback either in an updated review, or you just shoot us a message to hello@zillionwhales.com - let’s talk about it!

Update?

The game is telling me I have to update but there is no update in AppStore. Now I can’t play :(

Fun game but you will have to pay to compete in the higher leagues

This is definitely a fun game to play and you can tell Zillion Wales put in a lot of time developing it. However, if you play regularly or want to get to the higher leagues, especially diamond or pro, then you will likely have to spend money to compete with the top players who spend a lot of money to upgrade their heroes. For forging artifacts, they will also not let you choose which artifact or hero you are forging the artifact for, but they can give you a artifact you already possess. The really powerful artifacts that all of the good players have also cost around 15,000 gems per artifact (it costs $50 to obtain 12,000 gems, which would not be enough for even one of those artifacts). Furthermore, even if you buy premium, you still have to watch several 30 second ads or use gems to open chests (usually paying for premium on any site or app gets rid of ads). Passive skills is another way they try to get you to spend money, as you can only upgrade passive skills with gold and runes. They say passive skills are permanent skills that every hero uses, so I think they should be determined by how many games you have played and/or won, not by how much gold you can spend. Overall, it is a fun game to play, but you can usually tell which games you are going to lose based on your opponents’ hero and artifacts (which flash up right before the game starts).

Review

Honestly one of the funnest games I’ve ever played, super addictive and you don’t have to check it every day.. play as much or as little as you want! I’ve played clash of clans for years and it honestly has nothing on this game. Understanding strategy and knowing player powers is key to winning a lot in the game. THE INE THING THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY IS WHEN YOU GO TO OPEN A CHEST YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS YOU CAN PAY 35 gems to open it or watch a video to take an hour off the timer, butttttt they SWITCH so I’ve accidentally spent like 250 gems on accident because of it and it’s the one thing I wish they would fix! Also would be nice to get better chests more often, without spending money still a really really fun game but it will take me forever to unlock all characters and upgrade them all the way. The people who spend money just demolish you half the time and you’ll know who pays for stuff and who doesn’t. All in all great game I used to play the demo version with my cousin on the ps3 before school like 10 years ago and it’s such a great remake and way easier to play it on the phone.

Disgrace to original MW

The original Mushroom Wars was one of the best mobile games ever, and one of the few that wasn’t a microtransaction nightmare. I paid for premium on the original abd was happy to support the developpers in doing so, because the game was focused on the game, not on baiting you into microtransactions.

This game, on the other hand, is a pathetic disgrace. While fun, in the end it is just a factory that produces micro-transaction bait. If skills were universally available, it would be okay—but they arent. You can use your skills a limited number of times before you have to spend whichever of the many in-game currencies it is to make them available again. You are also matched with more advanced players using characters you havent unlocked yet (so you havent developped a stratefy foe how to defend against their skills yet) when it’s most likely to lead you to making a micro-transaction. It’s not that it isnt possible to win and have fun without paying, it’s that every single aspect of this game is carefully orchestrated to temp you to pay.

Desperately needs balance

This is a defensive game. The morale boost is over powered and gives the first successful defender and almost insurmountable advantage in the game. Some characters have a set of skills that are straight up unbeatable for other characters. This game will frustrate you. You will also be bombarded by in game purchases offers. One after every single match you play. It’s incredibly annoying. Especially since you have to buy the game. Had a response saying that sometimes players get matched against better players. OR… FIX YOUR GAME! morale IS a broken concept. It’s unbelievable how a player can double their damage, defenses, and move speed by defending an attack successfully. If you have a bad engagement it’s basically impossible to come back from. Fix your game or stop charging money for this crap. Morale is the most useless and ridiculous aspect of this game. There are many characters with different abilities. You don’t have to add god mode on top of it. The game isn’t about strategy at all. It’s about who can wait until the other attacks first. You’ll literally sit in game for 5 min waiting for someone to make a move. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

We understand your frustration, we also sometimes get stronger opponents, and the team is working to improve the matchmaking system. Also, to get and edge on stronger players you may ask for advice from more experienced players in Discord https://discord.gg/mw

The developers only care about money

If you’re after a fair game, this isn’t for you. Is used to be unfair because the matching system was flawed and certain players manipulated their rank. Now, in addition, they reduce your rank automatically every month and it’s tremendously exacerbated the matching issue. Don’t bother emailing Zillion because you won’t get a satisfying response. Why would you when it’s clear their sole intention is to create more reason for you to buy more upgrades. Some people just don’t get that a happy customer is a good customer, and often translates into a paying customer. The more frustrated I become with the game the more I refuse to pay another cent for anything. Money always wins, but don’t buy little thinking it will give you an advantage.. it won’t; you’ll just get matched against stronger players. Players who buy a LOT (thousands spent).

To expensive

Excellent game but once again to play you have to spend a fortune. You need to have premium to have any hope of winning any multiplayer games. You get premium initially for a few days and then after that it wants money. About a £1 a day. It then wants money for the campaign. About £30 something for all of it. It then wants money for power ups etc etc. Next thing you know they want £100 plus.
So great game once again totally ruined by the greed of the developers.

Update -
Now 1 star. As you develope through the game it becomes unplayable unless you pay for premium. Really hard to find games as the second any magic is used other party leaves. Shame it’s a good game ruined by the greed of the developers

Great Game

I have been playing for well over a year and I love this game, it’s a game I can just log on and play a few multiplayers and be happy. This is not a pay to win game, I have never paid for anything other than the campaigns and I win all the time. I win against people with the premium account. The premium account just lets them play more games where as I wait for the recharge or use a different character. It is very much skilled based, you got the odd game where it puts you against someone who is too high compared to you but that doesn’t happen often. Overall one of my top 10 games for my iPad!

Pay to play

I’ve been a big fan of MW since the first app came out and for a while I loved this one too. But not it’s impossible to win against people online if they pay the subscription. They have a ton of power up and everything that you don’t have. So in the middle of playing they can slash your numbers or take over multiple mushrooms with a touch of a button. I use to win every couple games now I leave as soon as they start using power ups. No point. If you want to play single player mode you have to pay after a certain number is completed which is crazy since you do the same thing on every episode. You also have to wait to open chest and I find it impossible to get the red rubies. All over feels like I’ve come to a dead end. The subscription is no-weekly which is ridiculous. I would be much more interested if they changed it to pay for the app instead of subscription. Maybe subscription could pay for some bonus content that doesn’t make online game play so unfair. One thing I enjoy is there isn’t random ads.
