  • Infinitely worse than keys but occasionally works

    9/2/24 Update: downgrading to one star after being locked out yet again from my apartment building. I’ve reset my password multiple times and the FaceID doesn’t work either. If you are an apartment complex reading this, please don’t do this to your tenants.

    Original post: The apartment I live at moved all tenants to this system and now requires this app to enter all rooms in the building, including my unit. I would give this app a 1.5 out of 5.0, which I’ve generously rounded up to 2. In short, the app usually takes 10-30 seconds to connect to the electronic locks. But it occasionally connects right away, so I bumped it up a star. Here’s what I want as a resident who needs this every day: 1. Add key to Apple wallet (or something that allows me to just tap my phone to the lock) 2. A way to favorite the doors I frequently use and to hide the ones I don’t. My building has 20+ community doors, so having to scroll and sift through tens of extraneous ones 3. Better integration with Shortcuts so I can create my own ways to streamline the unlocking process To be clear, this is bad enough that I want to break lease and move.

  • Great Customer Service - David W!

    GeoKey is an easy to use app that has greatly improved our condo security and made keyless entry very efficient. I’ve submitted questions and issues thru the app that have always been responded to immediately. I’ve had amazing attention and customer service from David Warneke resolving issues with resident and delivery driver cards not working. He has gone above and beyond to help get them added back and follows up to make sure all systems are good. He’s a pleasure to work with and I know he will make sure any issues are resolved. David W is awesome!! Thank you for a great product and the amazing customer service.
  • Always locks me out of my apartment

    Not only do they expect you to have a smart phone to get access into your place, the app is constantly having issues. Me as well as many other tenants have been locked out of our apartments due to the issues with this app. It has caused many people that live in my apartment complex many issues. I was woken up at 5am to my neighbor banging on my patio door to be let in to the main entrance because of an issue with the app. Customer service was not able to help him in a timely manner and if he didn’t wake us up he would of not only been late for work but him and his dog would of been stuck out side until the clubhouse opened.
  • Impractical

    These devices were installed at my apartment complex only a couple weeks ago and I have been locked out 6 times. The bluetooth connection is poor and occasionally won't unlock the door until you have restarted the app several times. It takes me a solid minute to open my door now as opposed to 3 seconds with a traditional key. Technology is meant to make things more simple and efficient, this app does the opposite.

  • This is the worst.

    I cannot believe that I pay for an apartment every month, and can't get in if my phone is lost, stolen, or has no internet connection. Why can't I have a key or some sort of backup option in a scenario like this? Half the time it takes me more than a minute to unlock my own apartment door because the app won't load. Why would my apartment complex spend so much money on relying on something that has a 3 star review. I tried being positive about this transition thinking I could at least let others in downstairs from my apartment, but no, I have to be directly in front of the door. So that's not even a perk. Way to create a problem that wasn't even a problem to begin with. Seriously considering moving out over this.
  • Works ok

    The system works ok. Sometimes it’s temperamental but I get that. The main issue that I have with it, is you cannot lock the doors from the app. You can unlock them but are not able to lock without calling. What happens if you have to leave in a hurry? What if there is an emergency on site? What happens if someone is trying to enter that should not be? You have to call and wait on hold… that’s what.
  • The BEST!

    I’ve been a user of Geokey for over a year and it has brought so much simplicity to my life. I’ve lost so many keys and fobs at old apartments. But now I never have to worry because I almost always have my phone on me. Also really like being able to set a PIN number for my door handle so I don’t have to always use my phone. Love all of the options!

    Originally our complex used a key fob, and still does for some doors, and it worked fine! I could get in and out of doors in seconds.

    Now, for some odd reason our complex decided without any resident’s consent to transition to this! No one asked for this and many of the residences were outraged, including me!

    Now what used to take a second to unlock my door and let myself inside takes many seconds to a minute! Constantly the app tells me the Bluetooth isn’t working, or it logs me out and won’t log me back in, or nothing happens at all.
    This is ridiculous! All all I want to do is unlock my door so I can get in. Why in the world does a trivial task that’s been done since ancient times need to me this complicated? It’s even worse when I’m holding a bag of groceries and my hand is tired and all I want to do is get in and put the groceries away so my hand can rest.

  • Does no one use keys anymore?!

    I live in a complex that has incorporated this into their building. I don’t have my phone on me at all times, and hate that at times I will have to all all the way back to my apartment to get my phone and walk all the way back. Also the fact that every time I use this app, it’s asking me to use my card?! What’s up with that? I swipe off of the card, and select the ‘office to mail room’ option, and it unlocks, just for the card prompt to pop up again. Overall annoying.
