  • Easy and fast

    This app is a game changer. We travel to France once per year or so, and love shopping at both large department stores and small boutiques. Keeping track of our receipts and processing vat refunds at the airport is such a hassle. We’ve even skipped it altogether and missed out to avoid the experience.

    Wevat made everything so much easier! It provided instructions on asking for receipts, was easy to follow, accepted and processed photos of receipts quickly, and was available to help when we needed it. It provides a barcode to scan at the airport’s Pablo kiosk, and processes your refund for you. No talking to an agent, no tearing our luggage apart to show our purchases, just scan and go. We’ll definitely be using Wevat again and again!

  • Need to market to stores about app

    Chanel Paris dont accept. No matter how we explain and show this app they warn us we wont get our tax refund. App needs to market more to provide information to stores about their app.

We tried to make it clear already in our app already that certain shops, including Chanel, do not issue commercial invoices at all due to their own shop policy.   • High fees, long refund time

    I used Wevat to get tax back on a trip to France. It claims to be fast, inexpensive, and easy. This was not my experience.

    It took 4 months to get my tax refund back, slower than for the VAT refund I did manually at the same time.

    For the pleasure of waiting 4 months, they charge a ludicrous 22% commission.

    Avoid this app. The manual process is faster and free.

  • Misleading - US buyers avoid

    I loved the general layout of the app but they’re concealing the truth from you. 1) You can’t currently get VAT back in Euros with their app if you have a US credit card (as you can with the global blue app). You’ll have to choose between paying a percentage to get refunded to PayPal or converting to $ back to your US bank account (because it only accepts Euro bank instructions). 2) They’ll make you wait until you’ve put you’re invoices in (at which point it’s too late to use any other program) to inform you of this AND this is when they’ll tell you the 3-5 days refund is actually up to 3 months now. 3) The program still lies and says global blue requires you to mail back forms, but that ended when they rolled out their own app. Now it’s just as easy and you don’t mail anything back after getting validated at the airport kiosk.

    Long story short, clearly they are hiding the fact they are making $ on forced Euro to Dollar conversions which wiped away the financial higher percentage back incentive, Global Blue has an app program which eliminates the easier process incentive, and I got my $ back from my global blue purchase 3 days after my trip while I’m still waiting a month later for WeVat to hopefully come through - when being sold the reverse would be true is why I was persuaded to use this app to begin with.
    It may work for UK people I don’t know, but US citizens you will NOT save $, avoid avoid avoid!!!!

    Hi thecontessa, Wevat have serviced many customers in 88 different countries, so we are totally trustful. 1) For US customers you can chose Bank transfer or Paypal for receive your refund, it’s true you can only choose USD currency for your refund now but we still looking for more solutions for our US users, if you chose Paypal there have a little fee which is charged by the Paypal this is out of our control. 2) In order to use Wevat we need an invoice address to us this is the request from the French customs, for refund type there have 2 different refund type which you can choose on the app, Fast refund takes less than 7 days for you to receive the refund, Standard refund takes up to 3 months after your departure date, this is all written clearly on our app. 3) Wevat only has one flat service fee and has no hidden fee or make any profit from the currency conversions, for the refund we use the spot rate so it’s fair to our customers. Wevat works very well for all the users from all over the world and many users are from the US, but thanks for your feedback, we will make our service and the refund period more transparent so it’s very clear to our users.
  • excellent app but...

    very convenient, great for vat refunds. upload required receipt/document, scan barcode at customs, get refunded. really quick processing/ transfer of money with higher percent refund than global blue. that being said, a lot of luxury shops do not accept/issue the required document for wevat refund. so unfortunately I still needed to use global blue for those purchases which is a bummer.

  • Fast and convenient

    It was my first time using the app and it was easy. Instructions were clear. This is the way to go! Also, I got my refund quick!
  • Excellent app and great service

    I got my refund before I even boarded the flight after submitting at the desk there. Excellent customer service and convenience of not having to ask for tax forms at stores. Loved it!

    Am very skeptical in apps like this but decided to give it a try for my recent trip to UK all I did was keep the receipts of all my purchase and upload it on the app and they put me through on the next thing to do and the rest is history. Is stress free guys give it a try.

  • Fast, simple, works for all purchases

    Using wevat to get a refund for all my purchases made on a recent trip to England was remarkably simple. I just saved receipts from all my major purchases that has a VAT (no need to get any form from stores or anything). Then entered them all into the app towards the end of my trip. Then thy generate a form for you that you turn in at the airport and WeVat will TransferWise you your refund. Not that I need more excuses to shop, but with the Vat tax at 20 percent it’s sort of like shopping everything on sale!

  • Customer Service is spot on

    I love the service and for those who are new to this. The VAT and Travelex people tried to curveball me every step of the way but customer service for We Vat guided me to success. Okay so, the lady at the VAT office before the security tried to act like she didn’t know what this was and didn’t want to offer help except to print it out after we arrived at home, and said it might not work. I jumped on the help chat and luckily I only needed to claim what was on my carry-on. They told me about the Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 2 at Heathrow that printed my paperwork for £1. (I had not printed it because I didn’t have access to a printer and I waited until the night before to upload my receipts and then it took 8 hours to process since they were closed and an information person at Heathrow said the VAT office would be able to scan it, not the case but We VAT said it had to be printed so really my fault.) After I went to the Travelex right by the elevators near the Lounge. The the lady didn’t know what it was but luckily someone else that was like a supervisor knew what it was and then we got it stamped and they had me write my credit card number on the paper. Just the number not the expiration dates or anything else, because the return is credit only. Then they stamped it and said they’d submit it to the VAT. Now that I know the deal this app works great. We Vat apologized for the inconveniences that were caused. As a new system they occasionally run into these hiccups but I highly recommend using We VAT for the better return rates and customer service, and the app is a breeze to use.
