Does not work
Charged me $9.99 and this just jams and locks my iPhone X. Package (blue sticker added on box) says 8 plus/X but don’t waste your money. I am returning this Pictar DSLR and trying to get my money back on this app. Totally disappointed with this.TonydRPH

Need a real update
C'mon. Great app for a year ago. Let's update for dual lens iPhones! Both the zoom and HDR need support from this otherwise impressive app. You can do it Pictar!AndyWestwood
Makes life easier
For those of us that like using the iphone to take "photographs" and and not just snapshots, this is the greatest thing since canned soup. I can't tell you how nice it is to set the focus and exposure with a wheel instead of touch AND not lose it again when you accidently touch the screen. It give you a grip that prevents all the volume button accidents. The controls are excellent. It has a standard tripod connection. You don't have to mess with bluetooth connections - just slip your iphone in the holder and go. The app offers most everything except I am missing portrait mode on the iphone X. This is great for the older generation as a transition to great photography on the iphone.Show lessweirdwanda
Heats up phone and drains battery
The two issues mentioned in the title mean I barely use the Pictar. I'll change my review when the issues are fixed (which we've been assured by the creator they will be).
June 14, and the issues have not yet been taken care of. It's extremely frustrating to not be able to use the Pictar as I have no intention of damaging it due to extreme overheating.
August 3rd and my Pictar is still dead in the water, with not one of the issues fixed.
One star until these bugs are fixed.

Truly Terrible
This app is for one of the worst Kickstarter campaigns I've ever backed. The gadget (the Pictar) is cheap, and the app is useless as it causes the phone to seriously overheat and drains the battery very quickly.

NO Customer Service
I was a backer of this project and finally received my Pictar but it was the wrong version. I needed the larger one for my iPhone 7 +. After 15 Tries to contact them (the email that was given for customer service). I have received NO responses except to say I should contact the email I have been writing to. Beware!!Show lessJRRiker
Somewhat annoyed
After spending $89 for this, I was pretty annoyed when I had to spend another $10 to use their filters. I don't see where this gives you any advantage over using just your phone. Not totally happy with it. Will try using it more to see if it gets any better. I'm giving this 3 stars because I was pretty happy when I returned the first one (because I ordered the wrong version) and they responded the same day (also purchased this through Amazon Prime so not sure if this made the return easier or not.)Show lessKarjack2011
