  • Always improving

This app has always been very reliable in planning my imaging sessions here in New England, and the weather can change on a dime out here. This summer it was especially helpful that the smoke map is integrated into their transparency forecast. Then recently, it was added that there would be 3 forecast models being used to determine cloud forecasts. It’s very simple to read. If the cloud box shows one solid color, all 3 models are in agreement. If there’s 3 different colors, there’s some variation in the forecast between models, which you can see by selecting any particular hour of the forecast. Helps very much with having the confidence to drive the 2hrs to my dark site, knowing the sky will remain clear with all 3 models in agreement. They’re always improving as the title suggests. Worth every penny! The icing on top is the astrophotography sub space where we can all share our work and help each other improve. Hands down my favorite app for planning my sessions.

  • Incredibly useful

I don’t know why I didn’t have this app before, the ability to see hourly cloud covers and much more useful information including light pollution and smoke layers makes this app a must have for observing or planning a night.
  • 10/10 for sure

They collect data from multiple sources and combine it into a median weather report that is pretty accurate
  • Absolutely indispensable

Brilliantly presents loads of essential information for stargazers on a small screen. Next to Google probably the app I use most frequently. Thank you!
  • Excellent App

I use the app almost daily to plan whether or not I’ll bother to set up for a night’s astrophotography session. I do use it in combination with a few other weather apps. The result is usually spot on for decision making. I realize that the “smoke” layer is still in beta, but that has been some great help as well. Currently we, in the Midwest US, are getting huge smoke plumes from western wildfires. I hope that will resolve soon, for many reasons. Sorry for any rambling but, to conclude, this app is fantastic.

  • Unmatched detail

I’ve been searching for something that shows forecasted cloud cover. Not only does this app do that, but it is meant for astronomers too!
  • A must for stargazers

I find this app a very helpful adjunct to other weather apps. The breakdown of each hour into % cloud cover, transparency, and seeing is particularly useful in planning and recording observing sessions
  • Great weather app.

I’ve been using this app for awhile to watch the conditions near my home and I can say it’s pretty accurate. Above that it has one of the best interfaces Ive seen in an astronomy weather app and I really enjoy using it.
  • Update! Won’t load iPhone 12 mini

Edit: Screen time is on. We allowed browser website although apparently it’s desktop only and the app still shows a black screen with loading ball apart from site information screen.

    Developer Response

Hi there, testing and live telemetry show the app working well on iPhone mini. Please reach out to me at developer@astrospheric.com so we can troubleshoot what the issue may be on your device.
  • Indispensable planning tool

I have saved all my stargazing locations and always check Astrospheric before setting out. Extremely useful tool for astrophotography.
