Non-functional

I couldn't get any of the videos to play on the website, and the app was asking for a confirmation code which never came to my email despite following the instructions on the email that was sent to obtain the code. Plus, when they say free 30-day trial, I think all they actually mean is their first three (not four like they are actually saying on the website) are free.

Love Chinespod

I love Chinesepod but don't like this app....main issue is everything is too small. I find the website is much more robust than the app. My expectation is a new wonderful app will come out soon to complement the excellent experience of the website.

The content is great but quite pricey

This looks like a great app but the monthly subscription is way too expensive ($45 Aud per month).

App missing functionality

The app is pretty bad...website is much better. No way to review vocabulary lists or flash cards. Can't add vocabulary to lists either. Don't know why that feature was removed. Also, the app version doesn't have exercises/tests available at the end of the lesson. Pretty disappointing.

Update is pretty good, app is essential, worth the money

I have studied Mandarin for 7 years in China, Taiwan, and the U.S. This app is what you need to improve your Chinese if you do not have particular aptitude at learning languages. They have a very keen understanding of the concept of finding the sweet spot, that level just beyond what you already know so you won't be overwhelmed by the next video/level, but still far enough away to push you to improve. They also possess subtle understanding of the very bizarre differences between Chinese and English and mostly do not rely on cheap/misleading/superficial explanations of meaning. They have good writers (who are actually educated professionals in Chinese language studies) and voice actors who slow down and speed up to the exact speed you need to improve. Production value is pretty good.

The app is pretty good, downloading the videos is useful but the best part is that the app offers all of the dialogues in Chinese and English translation (English hidden until button pressed)and has a nifty feature which allows it to seamlessly copy and paste to pleco (which you should also have.) Their Qingwen feature is quite good as these videos are a direct response to user questions. The above review stating that qingwen is not on this update is wrong. My only complaint is that they have not added a counter to the videos telling you how many times you have studied it.

They offer a $1 trial period. Get it from the website.

Still buggy

Nice new features but still buggy. I'm on iOS11 and if you bookmark or mark studied, it won't be searchable to you totally close the app.

Also, if you bookmark AND mark studied, it also doesn't show up in a search.

Really great update

In the past the ChinesePod app was a bit lacking, but this new app is awesome and addresses all my feature requests for the old app

First Review
