  • This is 2 legit

I swear, I am a professional saxophonist. No one can tell me otherwise. I just like to sit down, put on a nice background loop and jam with this app. So much fun. Highly recommended.
  • This is incredible

I don't use sax in my music. Hell, I don't even like hearing sax, but the demos I watched on Youtube gave me some ideas.
The realism is awesome - turn up the "Sex" nob to max, set it to legato, overlap your notes a little, and pow - instant pro sax player at your fingertips.
When my buddy heard the mix he was disappointed that "I used loops". When I pointed out Sensual Sax on the app store (though he doesn't use iOS devices), he still couldn't believe I didn't use purchased loops for the sax. It is that awesome!
Embertone, please, please, please bring more of your instruments to iOS. As long as they are available as Audio Units like this one, I will find a use for all of them!

  • Do not rest on your laurels

A great app but we also need trumpet, clarinet and trombone version.

You can have just a sensual app and have all the instruments as IAP.

    There's plenty of opportunities here
  • Super Sexy

This is very good, the best and most realistic sax app I have ever heard.
  • I wish it would work!

The YouTube videos and reviews were marvellous, so I bought it.

Took three attempts to load up as a stand-alone instrument, then crashed after a couple of minutes. Refuses to load at all when using with the latest GarageBand on iPad 4.

I know it isn't expensive, but it would be nice if it worked.

  • This just might be the best sounding app for win controller

With midi it worked out of the box with my EWI 5000 wind controller on both iPad Pro and iPhone 6 Plus using a Bluetooth LE interface for wireless use. This is coming from someone who was convinced the I could only get a great sax sound with the MacBook and the Sax Brothers. Not the same sound but I have spent thousands only to find a $4.99 solution that can fit in my pocket. I am amazed and hope they come out with horn sounds like this.

  • I want your sax!

I tried this withan mpe controller. 4 instances as AU plugins in AUM with each its own dedicated midi channel (per note channel) and it sort of worked. Each note receiving cc#2 for pressure /volume control and tried both sex knob with cc#1 active and not active for y axis controls. While the configuration worked it produced clicks and pops and zippering noises while changes in cc1&2 were changed. I don't know if this is asking for more resources than a iPad Pro handles. What makes it more difficult to play with mpe and wind controllers is that each note trigger is only a one shot loop which has no sustain longer than 2-3 seconds. Pitch bends limited to 2 semitones. Triggering from keys has the same result. So, basically it felt more frustrating with an expressive control versus static controller. I think the static controller kind of fits the aesthetic of a sexy Sax sample anyways.

That being said what the developers have done with this app and its scripting is still amazing. If you are a jazz guy I don't even know why you would take seriously something with a sex knob without asking to add a digital wind chime machine from the developers. Is this an option? This is an going to have some production value for many and fills a certain niche. I will continue to keep my eye on this developer and whenever I need more sex appeal in my music I know I at least have a big tool in my app drawer for the job.

  • A couple of problems . . .

This is a great Sax sound app, which has a couple of problems.
First: it does NOT show up in Auria Pro or MTS (Multi Track) Studio (by Giel Bremmers) as an Audio Unit, though it works fine with GarageBand app; Music Studio; FL Studio Mobile; Cubasis 2; AUM etc.
Secondly, (and more importantly) it appears to be preventing Modstep App from loading at all.
    I have a 64-bit iPad Air 2, with iOS 9.3 (64 Gb).
It is a terrific sounding app, so I would rather keep and have it, than not (even at the risk of not using Modstep!) Would like it fixed though.

  • Sound is amazing

Indistinguishable from having a sax player in the room, hopefully Embertone will port more of their Kontact sounds to the app store!
  • Good stuff...but...

This Sax is quite good, the presentation is awesome and for what it is it's fun and useful. However, on my 6s Plus, it crashes every time I attempt to change any MIDI settings, and on my iPad Air 2 it won't let me load Modstep with it installed. I actually have to delete it for MS to work, and that's just silly since I do most of my work there. I got this with the intention of using its IAA and AU...

I was able to load it into Cubasis as IAA. No problems there. Besides that, I'm digging this app's Sax appeal. It's perfect for what I'm doing these days, and I didn't want to spend a lot for some sweet sax sounds.

I'm sure the devs will iron out any issues in he near future. When they do this thing will be unstoppable in the realm of 80's atmosphere and dreamy light jazz muzak.

    Thanks!
