The only work out regimen that’s stuck

Let me start this review by saying I loathe working out and the single, sole reason I got this app was that a friend in her 40s had started and had gained an incredible six pack in about 6 months. I am so glad I did. 25 mins including warm ups and cool downs is so utterly doable, even a potato like me can manage it, and it’s not scary to start again after a gap (I had to stop for a few months while I recovered from an op). Started with the 60 day, now on the 90 day and I LOVE it. Actually, I hate it while I’m doing it but Jillian’s narration makes you feel like you can push through the Urgh and you feel so powerful after!

Not yet suitable for all

Recipe selection is set for US seasons so doesn’t suit those in Southern Hemisphere. Allows for some ingredient exclusion but very very limited and doesn’t cover common allergens. Exercises are good, but doesn’t prompt or remind despite notifications being on. Overall app seems slow and still has many bugs. Disappointed.

Jillian always does the job!

I keep coming back to Jim workouts throughout my life. They always work for me and stay interesting.

Excellent

I feel like these exercises are effort for impact!
Would love more variety in the sound tracks.
I enjoy hearing Jillians positivity everyday.
All in all a top app and program.
It’s nice to feel fit thank-you.

ALMOST perfect

I want to give this app 5 stars, but there are flaws. The workout plans are set up great and I haven’t found any problems so far, except as someone else mentioned, if you’re moving onto a new workout, it’s hard to get setup before the timer starts due to not being able to see through the gray screen. Sometimes I have to go back to the previous move because I didn’t have enough time to set up. Once you get a hang of the program you’re doing though, it mostly becomes a non-issue.
The meal plan and recipes however... some of the recipes are missing ingredients from the ingredient list or the directions are not clear cut, making the cooking process really confusing. The grocery list sometimes leaves out ingredients, and if you want to swap out a meal for the generated week, the recipe auto-sets to 1 serving, regardless of how many people/leftover days you’ve set up in your profile.
That being said, if you’re going to follow the meal plans, you need to do a lot of upfront work and basically go through each and every recipe to plan your grocery run as well as figure out how and when to make some of the recipes.

I’m 49 and always tried to exercise in various forms, mainly walking, yoga and some strength & HIIT training. I’m very keen on functional fitness and have loved how your app has adapted to my life. Sometimes i can only fit in the 7 mins workouts in a coffee break working from home, other times the longer workouts. But the biggest gain i have enjoyed is that i have my ‘bounce’ back. I feel like i did as a child - lighter on my feet! I am now progressing through your 5k running and enjoying it with a bounce in my step. The running has given me a lift that i feel i was missing in life. Thank you - you really are an authentic and inspiring trainer.

Workouts are great, but lots of glitches

I’ve been an avid Jillian fan for over 10 years and used a bunch of her dvds before, so the app makes sense having everything in one place plus loads of extra features and workouts.
However.. there are so many glitches with the app and considering the annual fee I expected more. I’ve had workouts crash half way through, voice over instructions playing for the wrong exercise that’s being shown, my progress has been reset, the app randomly changes my workout settings from advanced to beginner for no reason, sometimes it fails to load all together, it’s pretty buggy and it can really ruin your flow.
These annoying things aside, Jillian workouts are always killer. I have found myself using Pelaton a LOT more though now.

Highly recommended!

I love her style of coaching: direct but encouraging. I am on my third month now and I keep looking forward to my workouts - I was using another app before and I barely committed to a 6-week plan. I love the variation, the amount of choice I have and the fact that I can check each exercise so I know what she is referring to without wasting time during the workout. It is painful, but the time of each exercise is over before I know!
On the diet side, I didn’t want to get too focus on what I was eating, and even like that I saw some definition by the end of the first month. I obviously don’t have a six pack - not my goal anyway - but I can totally see that the increase of 1kg weight is from muscle, not from fat. (Using a measuring tape is way more realistic.) Love it, love it, love it!

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for

I feel like I joined a cult and drank the koolaid, because I worship Jillian and will follow her anywhere. I cannot stress how perfect this is for me. I’ve never counted calories or really dieted but I’m sick of trying to figure out what to eat and just wanted someone to tell me. I love that I could put in my food preferences and bam I now have all of my food planned out, seven days a week. And the recipes are *chef’s kiss*. With such an amazing variety. I’m so excited to cook and eat them! Not to mention a year workout plan based on my age, weight, height, goals, and on how in shape I am. On top of that, you have access to all other kinds of workouts and all of her dvds! And after the workout you can say whether it was easy and she’ll make it harder, or hard and she’ll make it easier. Or if like me it was perfect, she’ll keep it consistent. When you factor in that you basically have a nutritionist and personal trainer, the yearly subscription is INSANELY good. And Jillian is the best. I have used her workouts for so long and she always makes me sweat. Which is saying something cuz I’m in pretty good shape and have an active job. I’m excited to see what she can do for me with a whole year of planning my food and giving me new routines!!

Low Impact Shred

I was in the best shape of my life after Bodyshred about four years ago. I worked on getting through the program 4 times that year and built up to it using modifications until I was able to complete the program (and do hand stands and donkey kicks!), but a couple of months later, I got in a car accident. After 8 months of scans, light therapy and PT, I tried to ease into her workouts again but they all had too much impact for me and I felt worse every time.

Can I just tell you how happy I am to have this app?! I can customize the workouts and respond if a workout is too hard or easy and it will adjust my next routine accordingly! I hope to work my way back into Bodyshred someday because it is a FUN program with the best results, but if I can’t, I’m discovering how to modify for low-impact and still enjoy working out and getting my heart pumping! I’ve started LOW IMPACT SHRED and I am feeling *so thankful*.
