Thank you for your feedback. We absolutely understand that missing moments can be really frustrating, especially at the beginning. But it’s worth remembering that minutiae is a 1440-day journey, it’s a loooong time. However, the goal of the project is to give you the opportunity to capture different minutes of your day - not necessarily to capture all of them. However, throughout the 1440-day cycle, all participants will be able to capture the exact same number of moments. Note that if the moment occurs during the window of your “Do Not Disturb” mode, the moment will still happen, you just won’t receive the notification. If you wish to receive all notifications, just disable the “Do Not Disturb” in the app.
  • I want to like this app but don’t.

I really want to like this app. It’s a great concept. However, what’s the point if I can’t even see my pictures? Yes, I’ve signed up for the subscription, free for one month. I’ll definitely be cancelling before the month is up if I can’t get this sorted out. I would have contacted tech support before writing this review if there was one to contact.

  • Fun concept, not perfect

My main issue is a very rarely actually get the notification to take a photo. I don't know why. I have app notifications on and very rarely put my phone on do not disturb, I get the notification probably twice a week. When you miss the notification you just get a black square on the screen. It would be much more fun if you could take the photo at any point in the day rather than just when the notification goes off. Similarly, ENOUGH of the black squares. It makes the screen look drab and pathetic rather than full of life. Edit: After reading some replies i see that the reason people don't get notifications is because they all go off at the same time world wide. I now understand the reason but i'm not changing my review. It's not exactly fair for if people paid for the app to get daily notifications but don't actually get to take their photos. 2 pm in one part of the world is 2 am in another. It would be much better if the notifications were completely random or went by time zones.

Edit: Daily notification comes in about 6 times in a row. TBH Im considering deleting the app atp. I thought it was cute but I dont wanna deal with my phone blowing up everyday

Thank you for your feedback. The concept of minutiae is that all participants capture their moments at the exact same time. Besides, having different time zones would cause a lot of problems in itself. Because if you moved or traveled to a different time zone, your already captured moments would be overwritten, which isn’t very great. However, throughout the 1440-day cycle, all participants will be able to capture the exact same number of moments regardless of which timezone they live.
  • Everyday isn’t an Instagram Story

I love how excited I get when I get a minutiae notification! When I’m at work, it’s a fantastic and brief hiatus the monotony of earning a wage. When I’m doing something out of my normal routine and that notice pops up, its usually a way to talk about this app!
Every time I snap my picture, I take a few minutes to review my previous pictures and their time and date stamps and I realize how important the “boring” aspects of life actually are. Work was hard that day. Something was making me cry. Something was making me laugh. Something was taking my full effort to not roll my eyes. Something was exactly as it always was or never would be again.
Most of my pictures are of the same place, same window, plant, coffee mug…but that’s life. It’s so much of the same thing but that doesn’t mean it isn’t impactful or important or should be forgotten. Most of life isn’t a highlight reel or instagram story, but quiet, or routine, but never not unimportant as to be forgotten.

  • Suggestions

I love this app alot! It makes documenting each day so fun! But I do have three suggestions:
    - Maybe make the time longer, or if you missed it you can still post because sometime when I go to a concert, I really want the time there to be documented but as it is randomized, I wasn’t able to which is kinda a bummer
-a feature to add an emoji or something to showcase what I’m feeling that day would be fun
-make viewing the picture that was taken easier to swipe through as I love looking at my old memories sometimes
Other than those, I absolutely love the app and I cannot recommend it more!

  • Love this app!

I read about Minutae in the NYT Wirecutter it sounded intriguing so I downloaded it right away. Instructions for using the app are a bit vague but as they are few it doesn’t take long to figure it out. I used the option for turning it off at night but finally opted to have it on all the time. My phone I by my pillow, the app sound wakes me up and I let it take the photo. Not the most interesting photos but I wouldn’t have them if it weren’t for Minutae. Click on the tiny icon below your photo to see someone else’s photos. It’s great fun to see where they are from. All over the world. The first ones I saw were from Finland where I had been this past summer visiting relatives! I wish I had kept a list of where they were from the get-go. So many cute kitty photos far fewer pups. Figuring how see other’s photos was the most confusing. I have found it worthwhile to pay for it to get the extra time. LOVE LOVE LOVE this app.
I was unhappy that I was unable to read where paired photos were from when Minutae went off in the middle of the night due to not enough light for my old eyes. I now take a screen shot to look at in the morning so glad I did as I had Ukraine the other night! I did have to search the country name as it was as they spell it.

  • All the worthwhile moments

I have been using this app for a few months now and have found the experience so far to be not only enjoyable but also helps me be more mindful. The brief moments of connection with a stranger’s moments is pretty amazing.
