  • Really gets my players in character!

This app is amazing the sound effects really get my players in the mood and ready to roll play. The only issue I have with it is not being able to make tracks without pro :(
  • Good app but attribution info is out of date

Love using this app on my phone for D&D sessions. The ability to overlay ambient noise tracks over music and still play sound effects on the fly is invaluable to me as a Dungeon Master. Custom playlists were worth the small upgrade fee; however I have run into a snag in that the attribution information about the tracks is out of date. The tracks are all able to be used in your own creative projects so long as you provide proper attribution for what you’ve used, but the app provides tracks that don’t have any attribution information listed, and many tracks on the list don’t seem to be in the app. I’ve reached out to the developers about this and haven’t received a reply.

  • Great overall, would like it to play in the background

I really like this app. It works great, it’s easy to understand, and it’s somewhat well organized. It helps because I’m not quite as great as Matt Mercer in making sound effects with nothing but my face
I’m not a huge fan of the “magic sounds” as they all kind of sound like strange sci-fi noises like laser blasters from the early 80’s. And unfortunately I can not find the sound of a lightning bolt anywhere. But most of the other stuff is good.
Lastly, I keep my DM campaign notes on my phone. So I’m totally unable to access them, or my dice rolling app when I need to roll 20d6 bludgeoning damage, without stopping the ambient music and battle sounds. Would love to see an update for that, then I’d bump it up to 5 stars.
Otherwise great app. Good job and all that.

    Developer Response

Hi!, Thanks for the review. The ability for sounds to continue playing whilst looking at another app, is in the app, but you're required to buy the RPG Sounds Pro in app purchase. Hope this helps! Thanks, SuperFly Games Team
  • Has some issues

Works great just on your phone but when I try to play the sounds through a Bluetooth speaker it stops playing. I tried to purchase the pro version and it still didn’t work. Then I tried re installing and the pro version didn't work and I was back to the basic version. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s just this buggy

  • Pretty much exactly what i was looking for

Im starting to DM and i noticed during other games that even a simple background sound will add a depth to the sessions. This does pretty much exactly what i need it to. You can have a background sound say a quiet forest overlaying a gentle rain, then you can through in the hooting of an owl. Its really nice.

Now time for the reason why it only got 3 stars. Some of the sounds that are included are looped at bad intervals. The beat will be off transitioning from the end of the sound to the beginning. Im not particularly gifted in music but that little bit of OCD i have in the back of my mind finds the poor transitioning really annoying. This doesnt happen with all the included music and ambiance but enough to be noticable.

I know i can fix this problem just by loading some stuff from outside the app but im lazy and its little things like these that take the shine off an otherwise stellar product.

  • Am I doing something wrong?

First let me say that there are a ton of great sounds on it and it would be very helpful. However, I can only hear the sounds with headphones, just playing it does not work. I have tried deleting it and reinstalling it, but the problem persists. Is it an issue with my phone or am I doing something wrong?

  • Almost perfect

This is a great app for role playing games. There are a tons of sounds and you can play multiple at once. The app also runs in the background. One of the best features is being able to upload your own custom music.

The only issue is that when you upload files they go into one a single folder and can become unorganized and you cant change the order, and you can only add the app files to custom playlists and not the custom files you upload. If that ever gets updated this will be THE rpg sound app. But still a great app.

  • A great soundboard!

I first got this app as a small soundboard for my group’s dungeons and dragons sessions. The sounds that were preloaded on the app were very clear and the easy menu system is a breeze. The app as since added much more sounds and even playlists! However, this app does have some small problems: some of the sounds loop on a bad spot making the seam very obvious and distracting, and the custom sound info text is outdated. Nevertheless, the real reason I still use this app is just for the custom sounds part. Being able to add your own songs and setting them on different layers can really add to your rpg experience. This app is amazing as just a soundboard alone and not just for rpgs.

  • A lot of great tools!

I’m very happy with this app. It has a lot of great sounds; the ability to play overlapping music/combat fx/atmosphere is a control especially with adjustable volume.

I do have 2 things that I wish were features:
    1) On the playlists, I wish I could reorder them without having to delete and put the FX on in the order I want. I have tried longholding and dragging, but that doesn’t do anything.

    2) Crossfading would be awesome! Moving from one atmosphere or song into another without having an abrupt stop or start would be a great addition and push my rating to 5 stars!

This app is a great tool and resource for DM’s. I highly recommend.

  • This app is almost perfect but...

This app is amazing for the sounds and music and music and as a dm makes the have just that much better but the app tells you you can add your own sounds through iTunes. Problem is iTunes doesn’t have the apps sidebar anymore so there’s no way to add music. Fix this by letting people add mp4 files or some other way to add sounds then this app will be 5 stars.
