Not very good

Have a subscription that works on Apple TV but on any other devices it doesn't. Of course the help site defines all possible problems. NOT. No email address given. If you can't help me then I can only terminate my subscription.

Subtitles?

I wish you could have the subtitles on the tv when you AirPlay from your phone to your tv…

Season two please

Loved this story. Funny sad and great music. Now I want season two!!
Please

Great programs ruined by the app interface

I cancelled my subscription because the app is so unreliable even on iPad Pro it constantly crashes, freezes and gives error messages.

I’ve never gotten through a full hour of a programme without having to restarted the app and try and find what I was watching again to continue.

The programming suits me better than Netflix but the app is so clunky and old fashioned it feels like it was designed 10 years ago and received no further updates.

Got to the point where being in the mood to watch it was contingent on being in the mood to deal with the awful app. :(

Would have been 5 stars for the content but zero stars for the app makes a significant dent in that.

BritBox Navigation

Please fix the Bluetooth connection for vehicles. It plays music or podcasts over the Britbox show.

Disappointed

Very few quality programmes and most of them are or were on YouTube for free.

Updated review - July 2024 - so Britbox announces a price increase yet they still don’t offer downloading for off line viewing like Disney and Acorn …………. This should be a given !! 🫤

When you decide to offer this service I will gladly sign up with Britbox also Until then Acorn TV is t he service for me !!!

Password glitch

I’ve been experiencing issues with streaming on my Apple TV for a while now and I’ve finally cut off my subscription. All I get is response from Britbox saying the developer knows about it and they are fixing the prob
Isn’t it peculiar how they sure do flawlessly take subscription fees without a glitch but their team can’t fix forcing the viewer needing to input their password Every Single Time we wish to watch a show? It’s troublesome since I’m bingeing Vera currently. Who else is experiencing this trouble? My device is up to date with latest version. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Britbox app shut my TV off turned it back on. I’ve done all the necessary troubleshooting on my end and still I’m experiencing the same problems. Now it won’t recognize my unchanged password that I’ve used since day one I keep getting put on a repeat to input my password over and over and over and over and over and over.

Thanks for letting us know, our developers are aware of the issue and working on a fix.

Functional, needs refinement

If you set the app playing and leave it alone, it’s great. It plays, you can find stuff okay. The selection is small but has some good stuff- as it says on the tin.

However- the service does have some quirks.

Sometimes if you pause playback, or skip left or right the episode starts playing again from the start, not where you left off.

There is no way to stop it playing the next episode- a toggle button in settings would be awesome.

No way to have separate favourites lists- multiple users in the same household are not catered for.

Casting works intermittently- sometimes it appears to be connected, but both devices have a black screen and the sound is coming out of the casting device only, not the receiver.

The ‘continue watching’ section sometimes does not populate on the Home Screen, or the Home Screen does not load at all until you restart the app.

Using on iPad Pro, iPad 8 and iPhone XS. Some of these issues (all but casting) appear on the web version too.

Useless on AppleTV

January 2021. If you’re going to use this app on a TV it’s now somewhat stable. On an iPad, forget it. What a piece of junk. It forces the Home Screen into portrait mode and then when you select a program it will finally switch to landscape mode. No thought to look and feel? Next it will sit their with a spinning arrow for an inordinate amount of time. It appears to be downloading or caching the entire show before starting. February 2020 update: works fairly consistently on iPad. On AppleTV4 (latest) it frequently crashes. “Could not load BritBox, network error - Retry” gets stuck on the screen and the only solution is to delete the app and reinstall. May 2020 update. Crashing on AppleTV4 has gotten to the point the app is unusable. Almost a daily occurrence now that on loading the app, the usual BritBox could not load - retry error comes up, but now it does that with the previous viewed content blurred out but still running in the background. When is this going to get fixed!!??

November 2023. Things stabilized for a while but this application is the only streaming service I have that continues to be glitchy. When will you provide an app on a Samsung latest gen tv that works. I have to continually reinstall this app or stop it because it keeps pausing and spooling content and go watch on another device. No other streaming app behaves this way and I have a gigabit internet feed
