Paying to beta test?
This app is clearly unfinished, devoid of useful features such as searchable rules, the complete rules, scenarios, power points, and more! The search it has for the codexes is useless without exact wording and spelling and even then often has no results. Why is this a paid app? II have to buy the books AND pay for the app and still can’t use a search? The core rules is just a link to a web page with the already free pdf, so no using it offline. And through the app it can’t be downloaded or searched. Maybe with a few months more development and the army building feature it might be worth $5 a year but not a month. I’ll stick with BattleScribe. GW seems to have no intention of creating a consolidated database of current rules and points, everything is still divided into many separate, unsearchable and incomplete books.

The most anti-consumer thing Games Workshop have ever done
The app currently has almost no functionality to it. The only thing the free version gets you is the basic rules for 9th edition, everything else is locked behind their overpriced subscription. $7 a month to access rules I already have a codex for? Seriously? And absolutely no capability with an iPad? Why are you making an app for rules that originally came in the form of a BOOK? Reading tiny text off my phone is not how I want to play warhammer.
The pricing is also utterly insane. I could live with paying $3-$5 a month for a subscription, but you’re asking me to pay half a Netflix subscription, for content that is so bare and limited it’s absurd. At least give your consumers the option for yearly subscriptions.
But if I had the guess the reason why that’s not an option...well maybe because players would realise they’re spending nearly $100 a year for an app that has almost nothing on it.
I’ve put a stupid amount of money into this hobby, but Jesus Christ even I have my limits. This app isn’t seeing a cent of my paycheck until the subscription pricing is changed, and you actually get the army builder up. You know, the one thing players actually wanted.

Doesn’t recognise subscription
Subscribed and worked fine first time I used it. Now I can’t get back in - restore purchases doesn’t work, and resubscribing just does nothing

GW made such a big deal and fanfare about finally releasing this app and it’s actually so underwhelming.
It would be awesome to have a free trial of all features before being required to pay.
Every time you start the app it prompts you to subscribe (even if you subscribed!) vs. let you use the app for free when you selected the free option previously.
There is nothing of value when using the app for free. Nada.

The reference requires payment. Its search is not intuitive, by published books vs by units and the first item I searched was missing information on its data sheet making it confusing. However it’s great getting all the info for a unit in one place. But it should come for free when you have purchased the codex/books.
The army building section is yet to come.

3 stars is the best I could give this app
Now this app, from how it is, is actually pretty solid in my opinion. The price is steep for what Is basically the only useful part of the app for the moment but it provides a lot of content. Having access to every rule side of a codex from 8th and psychic awaking book for 5 dollars is pretty good, even though that has issues on its own. No army builder yet which is probably the most important part of this app.
However, the issues are what make me want to give this app a one star review. Even though I’m a subscriber, the app won’t recognize me as a subscriber and won’t let me have access to the content I subscribed too. Another issue I’m having with the app is that everything is in alphabetical order. At first this sounds great until you get to something like stratagems from let’s say, psychic awakening: Saga of the Beast. Everything is in alphabetical order for stratagems and they bunch it all up together, meaning it’s a mess to sort through things. I would much rather have it separated by army, like space wolves and orks THEN stratagems. This also applies to the units but I find it less of a issue, just wished they filtered it by their unit role at least.
Honestly, this would be a 2.5 but if I had to pick between 2 or 3, I would pick 3. App has so much potential and is getting fixed, but that shouldn’t stop mean it doesn’t get a bad review for the state it’s currently in.

Disappointed after high hopes
As everybody else has said, app is buggy, doesn’t remember me and I see no clear way of logging in after subscribing because the app has forgotten me after closing. Search is basically useless and you need to know the content in each codex before you can use it.

Subscription failure
Subscribed, does not recognise subscription. Have deleted and re-installed app which did not work. Subscription screen takes me to GW website. Looking forward to when the app is correctly up and running - should be good!
Can’t load
I subscribed to the app when I first downloaded it. Since then, I have been unable to get into the subscribed app I paid for. It won’t even allow me to restore my purchase, and I’ve already received a confirmation e-mail stating my subscription was approved. Very unhappy with an app I’m paying for, but can’t even use.

App does not remember me.
I just got the app for IOS. I subscribed. It worked perfectly then I got out of the app and went back in. It does not remember me. It dosent let me look at the data sheets and says I have to subscribe so I click I already subscribed and signed in again. It comes up with an option to subscribe again. The button doesn’t work . I clicked on restore purchases and it does nothing. What is going on ?
I really want this app to work. I have high hopes for it and I’m sure gw will fix it but it seems unusable in its current state.

Doesn’t recognize my subscription
Well, it worked the first time I subscribed and now it doesn’t. It keeps asking me to resubscribe though I already paid and it was confirmed by e mail. Very frustrating. Also, ever category in the 8th codexes is broken down alphabetically (ex stratagems are listed alphabetically by name) instead of by faction which makes multi faction codexes tough to use as a digital replacement. It’s a reference tool more than anything else. And that’s if it’ll work.
