  • One of the best

The is by far one of the best app to learn and practice katakana and hiragana characters and some basic words.
  • Could do with more options

Great app, looks nice and clean, clear audio. However, it would be good to have more options such as being drilled on specific letters instead of having to work through the alphabet from the start to unlock all the letters. For example, I need to focus on the letters at the end of the alphabet (ma, ra, ya, wa etc). Perhaps providing different levels of difficulty would be good, too. I enjoyed having to decipher longer strings of letters.

  • Everything you need!

This app has really helped me brush up on my kana. After a long time without practicing, I was getting pretty rusty. This is exactly what I needed. The drills are pretty short so it's actually quite addicting too. I can't stop after just one. Not only does it get the job done when learning hiragana or katakana, but it also throws in some common vocabulary words to help on that front as well. And the cherry on top is the ultra-clever semi-add-free experience. No ads unless you miss five in a row. Then you get a punishment ad. So if you get good, you can do drill after drill without any interruptions. I definitely don't regret choosing this app to help me brush up.

  • Very good app!

    Love it!
  • THIS IS THE GREATEST APP EVER!!!

I have written 2 reviews ever because most apps are great but not enough for me to actually give a review (unless it was horrible and I decided to make a review). This app is free!!!!!! You get the full app! I can read and write kana fluently now thanks to this app! One recommendation though, maybe when giving drills do not make it so that it’s obvious what the answer is. For example, if the voice sample says, “ka”, the answer choices would be like, かおえう. Please add answer choices that look similar to the correct kana or add answer choices that start with the same consonant as the correct kana. So it’s more challenging and so you will be able to tell them apart more easily. Anyways AMAZING app! Definitely get this app if you want to learn kana quick and easy. I downloaded this app two days ago and already have finished hiragana and katakana.

  • I recommend it

I find I'm learning quicker than when I used other apps, and more motivated. The simple design is user-friendly and the ads aren't intrusive.
  • Great App!! But...

This app is great at getting you to know what the characters are, you can even tap a character and word examples pop up. This app has a lot of potential and is nearly perfect. The slight problem I see is that there’s not a lot of words for certain characters, so the words are frequently repeated and you might only focus on the first character to get a question right instead of looking at the whole word.
The last downside is that when it comes to word questions, there’s no challenge that makes you use your brain. There’s always one that’s obviously the answer, and the other 3 aren’t even close to the question. I don’t know maybe it’s just me.

  • 5 stars!

This app is a really easy way to memorize hiragana and katakana quickly. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or not, this app is great for learning new characters, and working on improving your speed and recognition. With this app, you already have 2/3 “scripts” down when it comes to reading and writing Japanese. Besides, if you don’t like the app, it’s free, so why not give it a try? 10/10 would recommend. The only thing I would change about this app if I could, is that I would add Kanji. I would add different characters with their meanings and pronunciations. I think this would be a cool thing to add, even if there are only some listed.

  • A Great Studying Tool For Beginners!

What’s great about this app is the simplicity of the UI. I like how clear the color saturations varies to indicate which kana needs more time to study on. The voice is a bit unnatural sounding so sometimes it’s difficult it make out what is being said during drills. A neat feature I’ll suggest is having the ability to slow down or speed up the voice. The drills are great way of memorizing the kana and the only way to unlock the next step. What could be improved on this a feature is to have the ability to draw/trace the kana as your learning the sound. Muscle memory is helpful and being drilled on how to write them would be great. I find myself returning to this app and drilling myself so I don’t get too rusty. I’ll still recommend this app!

  • Perfect app!

This app is the perfect Japanese character learning app. It is so simple and straight forward. I have tried so many and this app is by far the best. I'm leaving a review because I'm loving the app and to support the developer as this app is also completely free! And you only have to watch an ad as punishment for getting too many things wrong which makes me want to try hard as possible! (But also I make some mistakes so I can watch the ads to support the developer!) thank you!!
