It's genuinely awful. Irritating voiceovers, an incredibly small word count, obtuse system, and advertisements if you fail, which, by the way, can simply be skipped if you turn of internet connectivity, so there's basically no reason not to fail. It's one of the only apps out there with any decent level of polish, so it at least functions okay.Show lessapple is complete rubbish

Using Duolingo?
This is my advice: if you just started learning Japanese ditch Duolingo just for the beginning, master the Hiragana and Katakana and then jump back to Duolingo or any other learning method you are using, it will increase your learning speed by 100%. When I said “master”, what I really meant memorise each character as if it was a picture a portrait, start hand writing the characters by yourself when your drills get 100% accurate. This app is fantastic to boost your beginner steps into Japanese and it will save you hundred of hours later down the line, is simple and straightforward and with very simple hints to understand the concept of some important Japanese characters.Show lesshadriandiem
