Great writing tool, some *light* feature requests
Hey all at Slugline! This app is awesome. I can seamlessly switch between my MacBook and iPad when writing. Really love the integration with the new magic keyboard for iPad, too!
Only things to improve: User interface looks very “iPhone blown up to be and iPad app.” So, maybe some UI love in a future update?
Other than that, there is an odd issue where I cannot “delete/backspace” while holding the shift key. This is slightly annoying when typing character names. So, if that could be addressed, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Keep it upppppppp

I Simply Can’t Rely On it
This hurts me to say, but this iOS version of what Slugline is has been the #1 hindrance of me no longer writing down screenplay thought on the go—which I know is their exact goal.
This app let me down numerous times in saving my screenplays incorrectly, jumbling all of my text around the entire pages, causing me to lose a large percentage of my work. I truly wanted to be patient, knowing fully that development comes with bugs, and maybe I hit a random one-off bug. But issues kept arising, and sadly I simply have lost trust and any faith working in this app.
I am, and have been, an advocate for their macOS app. It’s great and has never let me down. I have zero trust issues with Slugline there.
I don’t want to be too harsh with them as a company and tell the whole world that they’re terrible, because they’re not. They’ve done a lot right. I’ll try this app out again somewhere down the road.
Anyone reading this, note when this was written, because the issues may be fixed and you should feel comfortable giving it a go. :)

Close
Good for quick edits or the like but not yet ready for focused writing sessions. Bugs and missing features interrupt the flow of writing but developers say they’re aware and working on it. I look forward to the day when this app lets me just write from my iPhone and iPad the way Slugline for Mac does.

Buggy and not safe
Shame. I really wanted to like this app. First impressions were certainly very positive. First issue is that it crashes every time I open it. Every time. This may go some way to explain how I just lost everything I wrote on my commute.
I emailed the developers a week ago about a different issue but never got a reply. It makes me wonder if this app still is under active development as the latest update is from quite a while ago.

The smallest bugs ruin it
While I enjoy Slugline, and use it as my sole writing software the version on iPhone and iPad are atrocious for one small bug.
When writing and being given the option of predictive text I always opt for it as it is genuinely helpful on a touch screen. However, on slugline when predictive text suggests something , especially when it is a word with an apostrophe when I press the space bar to choose the predictive text or just simply tap on the predictive text option as it appears above the keyboard it separates the words , breaking up the sentence and mixing the apostrophe and whatever follows in amongst the next words I am typing. It’s a small issue, but it upsets my flow to no end and is such a simple bug that should have been sorted out on release.

4 Stars Only
I was going to give it 5 stars but there’s this weird glitch that completely scrambled my whole script. Now I have to retype it, if not reassemble this bits. This program is great overall. But please fix this glitch, because this is the 5th time it did this to me.
Hands down Best Screenwriting app BUT Crashes frequently
Title says it all. Fantastic app. Really I couldnt ask for more in terms of functionality. It is simple, straightforward and doesn’t disturb you from what you should be doing; writing without distractions.
However my app must randomly quit about every 10 minutes or so. I am running it on iPad OS on my iPad Air 2. I do not see any reasons for the system requirements to be too high for it to manage given no other apps are open so must be an issue with the software.
If they fix this it will be an easy 5 star for me, as well as recommendation for all my screenwriting friends. As it stands right now its failing on its basic job of giving you an enjoyable experience writing.

Solid application
Easy to use and straight to the point. It may be made for the screen but I’m using it to write comics.
Also it’s sad that I have to mention this, but given how common it’s been with other apps to omit this, Slugline actually allows you to sync with iCloud.

Doesn’t work
I really wanted to like this but it can’t enter simple text. Was entering random garbage and text in reverse instead... and then it crashed. Can’t save fountain format but insists on “txt”. Waste of time & money. Choose something else.
Unusable
I write for a living and gave this app a go for my latest project, using on an iPad Pro - sadly this app is unusable. It’s so buggy - when you’re typing away it suddenly starts corrupting previous lines and speeches, so that when you come to review your work, much of it is lost, or has been turned into a load of jibberish. Very disappoining, I have wasted a lot of time on this app. Can anyone recommend a stable app for screenwriting on the ipad that doesn’t only export as FDX?
