  • Smart but clunky

Connects to almost all smart devices - and allows quite flexible management of them all. So for me, better than competitors(outside if full bespoke smart home installs).

However - it seems to think everything can or should be done with voice commands, and that managing your devices is a back-office admin thing that doesn't have to be well designed. The problem is that any auto configure capability isn't smart enough to make that work. So the device and scene admin is really important - and quite non-intuitive to navigate / use.

  • Family Bell keeps disappearing

Extremely annoyed that I have put too much money in Google Nests and the assistant app seems to have a bug that makes the Family Bell button dissappear constantky. I have to delegethe app and reinstall in several times for the “family bell” to appear for a couple of minutes before it is gone again. This was the entire reason I purcahaws 4 Google nests to keep my family on task. BEYOND frustrated. From what I have read online others are having the exact same experience.

  • Awful

Difficult to work with and family bell keeps going away.
  • Games are no longer available

I am so sad that I deleted my app and not downloaded it again because its games are no longer available.
  • So far Google assistant is working very well but there are some problems I have encountered

I must say Google assistant is working much better than the way it was a few months ago it’s a lot more responsive on the iPod touch 7 running iOS 15 however there are some problems I have encountered like for example sometimes when I open Google assistant it will not use dark mode sometimes it will accidentally go back to the white light mode and it hurts my eyes when it does that sometimes it will go back to dark mode which also happens a lot on my iPad mini 5 running iOS 16 which is quite annoying sometimes you need to fix it as soon as possible I do not want to hear no excuses.

  • How to edit my weather notification subscription?

Google assistant do not understand what I am asking about editing/removing weather notification. I could not change/setup the time for weather notification. There no remove/cancel option for notification at specific time. Also notifications works randomly at whatever time assistant wants to sent you a notification . I set weather notification for example for 6:00 pm everyday, but I got notification at 11:17 am , or 4:26 pm, and never at 6:00 pm. So pathetic app. The only one way to fix weather notification is to use for this purpose Google Pixel. Same problems with random notifications I have on all android/apple devices. So I just removed this app from my iPhone. Problem solved. Google cares only about your searching data and locations you’re moving/visiting. Google overall don’t care about your needs.

  • Everything Home/Assistant related has diminished in quality

I have owned Google Home (I guess Nest now. Google likes to change the name of its products and services a lot) for 3-4 years and it seems as if like many of Google’s projects, they are putting it out to pasture. But this is a review on the Assistant app. Every time I open the app, and I do mean every single time, I have to immediately close it and open it back up for it to accept my voice request. Open the app, the microphone gives me the visual queue that it is awaiting my prompt, it does not acknowledge my prompt at all, I close the app and reopen it, then it works. After that initial annoyance it’s ok.

  • No Voice activation

Google assistant definitely has more intelligence than Siri but it doesn’t integrate with my phone like Siri. Also, I would like voice activation (Maybe this is something that only Siri can do on iPhones?).
  • PLEASE add setting to keep assistant from repeating task back to me

It’s so annoying and surprising that Google didn’t think to add a feature in the Assistant settings for this. If I ask my Google Nest to turn off some lights, I don’t always need to hear “GOT IT. TURNING OFF THREE LIGHTS.”

It’s even more obnoxious if the speaker is set loud and it’s nighttime and you’re afraid you’ll wake someone up. There should be two separate volume adjustments—one for the Assistant’s voice and one for music/media playback.

I like Google’s products but it’s really an oversight that they’ve never implemented this. It’s probably intentional but it really ruins the experience using it sometimes. Would feel way more like an Assistant if it just did the simple task and didn’t redundantly repeat the task back to me EVERY time. Maybe have a ‘Brief’ setting that gives shorter confirmations, and then one that’s just silent. And then the regular setting which would be what it is now.

  • Amazing… with so much more potential

I remember back in 2015 when I was working on the google search team on the “sound search” feature, and the team beside us (who was working on the google home) let me try out one of the first versions of google home.

    I was blown away.

I dreamt of being able to do this stuff as a teenager- coding x10 lights to turn my lights on and off so I would actually wake up in time for my classes.

Now I just told google “talk to myQ to close the garage door”

But somehow. Bc we recently turned on content filters so our kids couldn’t simply watch any YT video, google replied with

“I can’t talk to myQ while the content filters are on”

    Really google?

There’s sooo much potential in this to become a platform of choice

My kids who can barely touch type have been able to ask google type search questions and learn information bc of this google assistant

I wish it could learn faster…. And be more customizeable
