  • Works 25% of the time! Typical for Google Products!

Google says “One or more devices is not available”. Google, they are all available. They all work on their respective apps. It’s only the Google Assistant that doesn’t work! It has something to do with family members being on my account. If I delete them and add them again the problem is fixed. This has been occurring since year one of the Google Assistant. Google is ignorant and lazy. Also, Google has had a glitch where Google sometimes lists duplicate devices. The only way to remove them is by removing family members from a home and adding the family members back in. These problems occur on both iPhone and Pixels. Fix your programming! How can you be this lazy? It’s been a problem for over 6 years!

  • Google Speaker Assistant is awful

I can’t review the Google assistant on my google speaker anywhere else, so I’ll review it here. Google Assistant has got dumb. Simple commands to control things around my house or answer questions are now “I don’t understand” or “you haven’t set up home control yet” even though a couple tries later it’ll suddenly work.
I have 3 Google speakers. Two were free and one heavily discounted. Glad I didn’t pay full price, because I’m about to throw them all away.

  • Only if you use google ecosystem

I am a foreign languages teacher and use a mix of three languages every day at work. I also use Siri all the time in the classroom to set timers, play music, ask random facts that add a bit of fun to lessons, however, Siri is not great for the polyglot as you can only use the language of your phone. This can only be one at a time unless you manually change and restart the system, which I could not do on a lesson by lesson basis!

Soo what joy when I found out that the Google assistant would let you add two additional languages as well as your phone language. I gave up and will stick with Siri (and use English when using Siri) because

    1. I cannot manage the calendars on iPhone
    2. I cannot set a reminder on iPhone
    3. I don’t use any google services so functionality is limited.

The one plus was I could link Apple Music but that was it.

Either Siri needs to be a better linguist or Google assistant needs to talk to my phone rather than the cloud.

    Ah well….

  • Amazing

This app is amazing. I use it every day. But one thing can you please add, can you please add more games. Thank you. Now I have one complaint. When I play puzzle of the day, sometimes it doesn’t understand my answers to a clue. For example, today, the clue was old guys are for its display. I said old reliable, but it gave me the information. It took me out of the puzzle. Can you please make that so it doesn’t do that? Thank you.

  • Can't do audio routines through phone anymore

The best feature of this was being able to set a routine so when my phone alarm went off, or a routine starter happened WHEREVER I was, the phone could play the audio (the news, reminders, etc. now it won't do this without a google home speaker or other external device. Now nothing works and only error messages pop up.

  • Way smarter than Siri Thank you Google

I’m new to having an IPhone and have been recently annoyed by how limited Siri is Google is way better for all kind of reasons Google will literally answer any of your questions as accurately as possible and fulfill almost any requests immediately don’t matter how complicated or specific the question or request is I appreciate google so much thank you Siri needs to step it up

  • Amazingly better than Siri

If Google assistant has the IQ of a Mensa genius, Siri has the IQ of a turkey.

It’s unfortunate that a 3 trillion dollar company such as Apple (that overcharges us for everything) has the malice to interfere with the normal functioning of Google apps on iPhone. For example, the microphone often has issues activating Google assistant. This has been going on for over a year, and it is an issue with iOS. Since getting an iPhone my ability to use voice dictation has been reduced dramatically due to Apple’s subpar voice recognition and buggy software. I miss my Google phone immensely.

  • Complex and confusing interface

While I generally prefer Google over Siri the Google apps tend to be a real complex and confusing jumble when it comes to settings that are scattered about all over the place and change with almost every update. I also can’t fathom why, when I open the Assistant app, next to my account icon in the top right there is a red dot. It looks like it should mean you have some kind of notification but tapping it to open up the settings and there’s nothing! Also the Assistant sometimes pops up a notification asking ‘Which device did you expect to respond’, tapping that just takes you to a blank Assistant page so why bother? It’s a pointless notification that merely wastes your time. Google’s good at information only, Apple leaves them in the dust when it comes to user interface and interaction.
