  • Needs an update for Draining Battery

We bought this for my son for his birthday and he loved it. The concept is great and really gets them up and moving around instead of sitting in front of a video game. However, we literally cannot play it for longer than 10 minutes before our phones shut off and then say they need to be charged. 77% battery life to dead in less then 10 minutes. Toy of the Year? It’s not a cheap toy for only getting 10 minutes of play out of it. Then when I contacted them about it, they said they hadn’t heard of this being an issue. Now reading the reviews, I know that was a lie. Not very professional. Please fix this issue and your customer service.

  • Has the potential to change laser tag forever

There is nothing out there like recoil. It is the future of laser tag style gaming by making it feel like real life call of duty.

The issue? This app. The hardware that comes with the system is solid, but with some connection issues with certain phones or other bugs, it can kill the fun at times. Once those are worked out though, this system will be unmatched in the casual and competitive live shooter arena.

  • App needs work

The gun itself is amazing with the effects but the app hardly works, I can rarely play a game without it failing, my most recent fail is that it stayed that the WiFi hubs batteries are dead, even thought it was working just fine. It did not let me start a game because of it. If you like playing with the gun and not the real game, then just buy a separate gun, but if you like the actual game, then re-think before spending so much money on recoil.

  • Never too old

My husband got this for Christmas and it looked neat but I wasn’t too interested in playing it. Not much for FPS games, I’m more into open world games that aren’t just point and shoot. That being said, I loved this when I finally did play it. Actually running around, diving behind couches, sliding across hallways to get behind some form of cover...it was great. (A little background, I’m a middle aged, stay at home mom...so yeah 😅. Probably didn’t look as slick to others as I did in my head, but it’s not about looking professional, it’s about frags. Didn’t win, but that’s also not the point, well it is but whatever.) We didn’t have any issues with bugs, not saying you won’t but it’s worked great so far.
To the makers: It would be awesome if you could fashion a smaller weapon that could be used by kids. I helped my toddler battle his dad and he had fun but I had to waddle behind him and hold it because it was too heavy for him to use by himself. Not sure if you can make them any smaller or lighter but it would be great if you could.

  • Lots of issues

My son got a starter set of the longer guns and a starter set of the shorter guns for Christmas. Sound from the app doesn’t play through my earbuds even though these are the earbuds I use daily for workouts, phone calls, etc. The long gun set shuts any iPhone down that is used. It glitches in the middle of a game and shows that the iPhone has no battery left even though it had plenty of battery life just a few minutes ago. This was a great idea but the glitches are too much.

  • Fun, Not Fun

So the game is fun best laser tag game i have found but ive been reading reviews and well adding a first person story mode would be cool bc i am a teen and i got it for Christmas and well i get bored bc i play with friends an all but they don't like it as much as me so im stuck and hop back to my xbox. It has great potential add some snipers make it goo far and wide bring in some great stuff blow our minds this can go so far and could make millions if you go in the right direction and also the app has bugs along with everything else hub disconnects when hub dont disconnect the gun does when it all connects game quits itself when we play it the cursor does not follow movement well it goes off on its own doing what it wants to instead of following gps tracking its fun but not fun so work harder guys hope yall blow our minds

  • Good times

Lots of fun so far. Need to try outdoor skirmish next so not complete review. Only wish was that there was a sound to let you know your reload was underway. I know it takes a few seconds and you get a noise when it’s done but I’d like to hear something saying the losing has started so I don’t have to look at the app to make sure as it’s silent.

  • Recoil, You missed big

First of all, the game is fun to play and I’d imagine even more so with a bigger field of players, but that’s not always feasible.

Recoil Team, you guys missed the bigger picture with this, that your true target audience is the pre-teens, the same customer base as NERF.

The idea is so cool, but I gave 4 stars bc you guys failed at not seeing the real potential of this product.....SINGLE PLAYER STORY MODE!!!!

Marketed this as the 2017 “Christmas” toy of the year, but it can barely be used, unless your in a close knit community, so that leaves son and dad trampling through the house for awhile until dad is tired and kid is sad bc he can’t play anymore.....

Du Du Dunn!!! Hello single player game mode.....virtual 1st person shooter, cmon guys fulfill this product to what it can be and it would be an amazing product, but as it is currently.....subpar compared to the potential it holds, such a shame...my kid was so hyped about it this and after 3 rounds now is back to the PlayStation.

Make this thing right Recoil Team, expand your resources and reach your real audience and develop a game to go with this, and profit.

  • Hoping for updates

I really like the concept of this. My boys were outside playing and that’s what counts. It funny because they still do a bit of raging like when they play CoD but they’re out of breath when they do it! It doesn’t seem to support Bluetooth so that was a bummer. I thought that I would have been limited to the battery in the weapons but it’s the phone that dies the quickest. With my iPhone 6S Plus I got about 20 minuets if game play and that’s not using the Birdseye view. I haven’t tried out low battery mode so I can’t speak to that. Overall I thought it was a good idea and it got the kids outside.

  • Fun, but doesn’t like AirPods

Only played two games so far, but fun up to now.

Doesn’t work with AirPods, though, which is super-annoying to those of us who have left wires behind and have phones without headphone jacks. I can be listening to music with AirPods, switch to the Recoil app, the music ends and all the game sounds come from the phone directly. Wireless headphones are over half the market now. It is a big oversight and inconvenience to players to not support them.

On a side note, being able to continue listening to your music while playing would be great, too.

I was pleasantly surprised to see you can play only with a mobile phone and don’t need a tagged. You still need the Starter Set, though, for the hub.
