Tracker doesn’t track
This app is supposed to track your location daily in the background. However, nearly every day I get an error message - “No Location Received”. What’s the point of paying for an app that supposed to work in the background but you end up manually inputting your location nearly every day. This app is a complete waste of money.Show lessStagborg

For some reason, this app cannot tell my location when every other app I have has no trouble. Solution? Use google location sharing. It is a free service that never looses you. End of year, download all your data and build a spreadsheet!gonzo222
Not great
I have to keep the app open in the background and still, every day or every other day I get alert notices that it can’t detect me. I have to tap in the alert or check in on the app every day. It’s supposed to keep track of me and I feel like I have to keep track of it to make sure it’s doing the job I paid it to do. Very frustrating. Also uses a lot of battery because it has to be kept open.Show lessSavantaho

Hi Savantaho, there was a bug with an iOS update that was affecting the app but Apple has since addressed this. TaxBird should work in the background and use very, very little battery. Only works intermittently
I would try a different tracker. TaxBird sometimes can’t tell which state you’re in. I get frequent notifications from the App that it failed to record a location for the day, even though I’m in the same state as the prior day. No logical reason why this happens. Given that it’s a paid App, it should work more consistently.Show lessjadtrading

Hi jadtrading, I'm sorry that this did not work well for you. While in the background, the app will require movement of the phone for Apple to share a location with us. At any point during the day, you can quickly open TaxBird to immediately sync a location though. On the vast majority of days, your app should provide a location automatically. If the phone is not moved 500 m (almost 1/3 of a mile) during a day, the software does not detect location. An error message warns you to record location manually, but you can do that for free without this software. If you are using this software objectively to document time spent in a vacation home instead of your primary residence, it’s almost useless.Show lessBeppo44

Hi Beppo, I'm very sorry for the delayed reponse, we missed this review. The device movement is a requirement of Apple but it is typically met throughout the day. Regardless of movement, if TaxBird is opened on the phone at any point during the day, it will immediately sync a location. We send notifications in the evening if a location has not yet been received to try to avoid a day being missed. However, if it is, you can manually input locations to your account. If the app can’t figure out where you are, you’re screwed. It doesn’t allow you to manually enter the correct dates for where you are. I’m glad there was a free trial period to find out it doesn’t work.Av8tor8039
Poor location acquisition
It frequently fails to get location, requiring manual input. For that I don’t need an app. Checked against other apps that use location and they seem to know where I am. So my IPad is doing fine but the app isn’t.Chug The First
Constantly fails
With a lot of expectations for this app I am completely disappointed. The alerts for “location needed” appear no matter what settings are done. And when you go to load the app and update, it just freezes with the spinning wheel. The alert notifications remain and it takes hours to remove them. If you move from state to state constantly, this is not a good app for tracking. I already have multiple “manually entered” locations this year because the app just didn’t work or froze while trying to register the location. I will definitely try another one next year.Show lessnahocs
